The Official Burton Thread
Re: The Official Burton Thread
That’s relative to the rider and the conditions, no?
I have a buddy who’s an inch forward of reference on the Gril Master so he could drive the nose harder.

a bit of taper, a lot of camber

I go forward from ref on almost all burton directional boards.nitro909 wrote: Sat Dec 28, 2024 6:10 pm For those of you with a Gril Master, how are you setting it up in relation to the reference stance? I havent set mine up yet, but I know theres been a few B boards that ride "better" by ignoring the reference points.
Re: The Official Burton Thread
Front foot on ref seems appropriate on the Burton powboards.

Re: The Official Burton Thread
I would run 1” forward of reference on my Fish and stun gun for everything but powder days.
Re: The Official Burton Thread
I had a fish and was forward of the reference based off recs from here. Im gonna be using the Grilo for groomers and all mtn riding. I have a pow board for fresh snow and a park board as my normal daily, havent really had an all mtn dad board in quite a while so Id prefer to have the stance dialed in and not have to mess with it on hill.
Re: The Official Burton Thread
I think if one buys a board, no matter the brand, and needs to mount it forward of reference for it to ride right, I think they are not on the right board to begin with.

Re: The Official Burton Thread
There were some versions of the Fesh where that was a thing, I think setting it forward kinda gave it less nose lift and flex. It's a different board though, and Burton kinda changed more to the "balanced freeride geometry" from Terje&Taro talks. I did the set forward thing myself on Fish when I had a wider stance, because I thought the nose was folding a bit, and a longer tail was better on jumps, but that board was massive for me, so don't think it had anything to do with float. Now I'm on min on most boards, like the 560 ref Burtons.
Re: The Official Burton Thread
Yeah, it was largely the fish. A lot of us liked it slightly forward. Sometimes choking up a hair on boards like that makes them feel a little more powerful, if that's your preference. A lot of those older Burton pow boards were pretty backseat.
Re: The Official Burton Thread
Yes, boards need to ride right, and personal preference is all in your imagination. Including when Mikey Ciccarelli rides his hometown hero 1 inch forward from ref, you dummies.pow_hnd wrote: Mon Dec 30, 2024 9:46 am I think if one buys a board, no matter the brand, and needs to mount it forward of reference for it to ride right, I think they are not on the right board to begin with.
Re: The Official Burton Thread
My stance on the board depends on so many things… the snow (quantity and quality), the slope, the place, the type of riding this day… I’m always changing and trying… even too many times… but lately I like to be centered or more centered and not too far back, including fish and stun gun where I usually go an inch forward.
I like to feel the tail. In fact, I prefer wide noses so I can go further forward and not sink instead of long noses or going further back
