odds are high some customer wanted to “see how the other lens worked” and had to have them fully swapped into the frames and compare against another model’s low light lens and both lows went into one box and the highs went into another.spurist wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 12:07 pmnice, thanks @Yeti
What you are calling "strong rose / maroon" is what Smith apparently just calls "brown." I prefer "maroon" …
I got both the ChromaPop Storm Rose Flash & ChromaPop Storm Blue Sensor Mirror and either the shop mixed something up or these two lenses are basically indistinguishable one from the other.

Something like that except I did get the dark lens, and what was supposed to be the Blue Sensor may have gotten swapped with a Rose Flash.coleslawed wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 8:38 pmodds are high some customer wanted to “see how the other lens worked” and had to have them fully swapped into the frames and compare against another model’s low light lens and both lows went into one box and the highs went into another.spurist wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 12:07 pmnice, thanks @Yeti

Ah well.
Re: A Thread For Goggles
After all that, I bailed on the Smiths yesterday. Returned the Squad Mags and lenses and picked up a pair of Anon M4S's locally (and ordered the cloud pink lens to the winter home).
Anon's have worked great for me the last 5 seasons, especially the one handed pop-off (oh ah I mean…). MFI stuff is cool too on those days that I do need it.

I use oakley adidas and anon and sometimes I have the feeling that the more spherical lenses cause me some vertigo... In each brand I have different lenses and I cannot compare the lenses... the sensation of vertigo is only in situations of cornices or ridges in the mountains
I don't know if this happens to you too

squad xls are great but changing the lens sucks
Re: A Thread For Goggles
The only ever experienced vertigo twice on the mountain, once at St. Anton, once at Jackson Hole, both high up on summits in basically whiteout conditions with no trees for visual definition. Straight up "snowboard by feel" situations. These types of conditions are most likely at summits and ridges, so that'd be my guess why you've only ever noticed it on cornices or ridges.jota wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 7:40 am I use oakley adidas and anon and sometimes I have the feeling that the more spherical lenses cause me some vertigo... maybe the problem is me. I reach the summit tired and lose faculties. but I also thought it could be the googles. as you say, white peaks, with rocks... dangerous slopes... and vertigo appears. it's as if the 3d definition of my eyes did not work well

Re: A Thread For Goggles
Both my storm & red squad XL lenses have started fogging between the panes 9 days apart, for no apparent reason. No damage to foam, and nothing happened differently at all. Strange coincidence. I'm pretty sure I heard this isn't exactly uncommon with their lenses eventually, but who knows. Hopefully they are willing to do some kind of warranty. The red at least is still workable, but storm is unusable.
Re: A Thread For Goggles
Smith decided to cover it, but they want you to destroy the lenses and cut the strap before they approve a voucher for replacement. The fuck? I did a lot of warranty related stuff in my shop days, and I've never heard such a weird thing. The voucher wouldn't cover the cost of new lenses anyway.
So, no goggles in the mean time, can't get an actual replacement for what I have, and waste a perfectly good goggle just because the lenses are compromised.

Re: A Thread For Goggles
We had a couple weird requests from a few retailers for warranties.. Rome and Nitro would make us drill a hole through the board and send them a picture no matter what the issue if it was under warranty. Never asked for the boards back.
