@Spenser and/or whoever has the newer Deep Reach, what's the flex and feel like? The 53 has kinda piqued my interest, depending on feedback lol.

I wrote about it on the previous page and based many comparisons on korua. Always possible it could vary with sizes.. I'm on deep reach 59, comparing to old & new transition finder 57s & Cafe racer 59

Flex is similar in & of itself, but deep reach feels a bit more planted, and probably a little more powerful. Part of that must come from the profile effectively being full camber, compared to korua's early rise on both ends. The ~30mm tapered koruas have a more loose and slashy feeling, while the deep reach is a bit more freeride bomber. IMO the DR is clearly the better one for pushing your carving, but some people may prefer the more playful nature of korua.

The waist is a little wider than your pencil 59 for example, but the rear foot also has a slight increase on top of that due to being less tapered, so something to consider. As noted, the 59's waist & under-foot widths are nearly identical to the updated TF 57, but I feel like I notice the width a little more on the DR for whatever reason. I want to do more of a direct comparison to make more of a conclusion on that, though.

Enter a week of sun and perfect dry, carveable groomers. First day on the limited, and first time riding a new-factory cadet outside of deep spring slush. Wow, it's fun being back on a "normal" board. Spent most of last season on koruas, so I got really used to noticeable taper and the wide waists. 263 w/ minimal taper on this feels super rippy and nimble in comparison, and man the board is just so fun. Stabile, holds such a nice line, lively and smooth… can't wait to get it in some fresh snow.

And just to circle back to the Deep Reach. Seeing the Evo flex rating has it as mid flex. Yours feels even stiffer than the Koruas?!

How’s the new build compare to the old ones? Loved my ~2017 Cadet but nose was hair soft, sidecut little tight, edge little short. Shape is more or less the same but if they made the nose burlier I might just go for it.

They're using the US 6/10 rating, which again I don't agree with. But yeah, I think I find the DR to feel a bit more aggressive than a standard korua, for the reasons mentioned.

I think a deep reach equivalent from korua would be a pencil with the reduced taper of the new TF, with the fuller-camber of the Cafe racer.

If you don't want a more aggressive feel than a typical korua, or a wider feel compared to your pencil, I'm not sure the deep reach is the direction to go, but these are all just my perceptions

The Cadet has easily become my number one, for me it's clearly the best all around snowboard I've ever owned. "Rocketship" is a great word for it, but for me it's just FUN, it turns like magic, feels very lively underfoot but it's also amazingly stable.

The edge hold is superb as well, love everything about it. @kimchi the nose on mine feels plenty stout, I'm not the strongest rider in the world and it does flex, but there's no way I can fold it at 190 on the 158.
