Forces [ak], Volcom, 686 etc. to step up and just not rely on being better than 32 and DC.
100%. Now if 686 would stop putting those asym zippers on all their higher end jackets... had a Hydra with that zipper and it's annoying as hell.
YES! I can't stand the asym zippers. There's also one on the plain gore jacket that isn't a pocket, just opens a hole for venting. If I bought anything from them it would be the new Gigi kit.
Yeah, that stupid asym zipper has to be zipped up always otherwise it flaps around weird in your face. Hate it.
And the ATV kit is sick! I want that in 2L and some kinda shade of blue.

Maybe it's just me, but if gear felt too restrictive, my reaction would be "this is too small," not "the cut isn't quite right."
But to be fair, I understand that some people like it fitted, closer to how casual clothing fits you "properly." If I chose outerwear based on my physical size, I'd be in medium, borderline small in some pieces, not XL.
Yeah, I'd be medium if I went by the size chart but always go XL.
I think the ski/ice axe brands are just tighter at the bottom of the jacket because skiers keep their legs together the whole time and tourers/mountaineers want as little material flapping around as possible. When you go up in size they just have longer arms and more space in the shoulders, kind of assuming the large sizes are for taller, athletic people rather than wider people that might not necessarily be all that tall.

So I grabbed a pair of Volcom guide pants, mostly because of the promo code @eleveneightnate posted. My first venture into Volcom outerwear and the relaxed fit is surprisingly big. I’m 6’ 140lbs and I’m swimming in a size small. They don’t have any inventory to try exchanging for an XS, which is ok because I’m not sure they would be long enough.
I can only laugh because there were many years I wore analog and Burton pants in a medium and never felt like they were overly baggy. I tried the Volcom pants on and my wife immediately started laughing at them falling off my skinny ass. Some would say with age comes wisdom but I can only thank the wife for reminding me that I’m indeed a string bean and need to stick with slim fit clothing.

Are you referring to how baggy (wide) they are, or the waist size?

The waist and seat are what I would expect in a size small. With a belt I wouldn’t have an issue there. The legs were too roomy for me. Ive been wearing a pair of analog pants that are a tailored fit and I’m sure that’s adding a bit of whoa factor with the width of the volcoms.
Bummed they aren’t gonna work for me but at the end of the day they were an impulse buy. Reading through the workout thread might inspire me to get some meat on my chicken legs. Haha

Finally hopping onto the bib train and got a pair of the 686 ATV bibs in the Gigi colorway. Looks awesome in person, which is what swayed me, but a bit apprehensive that they'll be too baggy, even on hill. Ideally would've liked to get the M, but was a bit too tight in the midsection/ass area, so bumped up into the Ls.

It's a bib train because we look like conductors in overalls.

Looks like some FW outerwear in the new United Shapes video, I wonder if that's all old stock, or they are going to relaunch. Both under FSSC. I rather liked the simple aesthetic and color palette of the FW stuff. It was going to be my choice for a new kit this year, then they shut things down.

I feel like they were very in for a season (2010? the Holden ones in particular) and then quickly were kooky
