First day on the Salomon dialog wasn't quite as comfortable as I expected from wearing them around the house. I think a real insole (remind medic impact on the way) will help. There's a touch too much space in the forefoot for me, and I need to put in extra "j bars" for heel hold (not uncomon for me). Though I really like the wide/square toebox.

I swapped in my old Nike liners just to see, and it feels great. They are a little thicker, solving the above space problem, and the heel "j bars" are way more pronounced. Going to run the mixed setup next time out to see if I like it while actually riding. Anyone else piece different boots together? I know folks are playing with bindings straps from different companies sometimes for example.

Modding bindings is total child’s play compared to what some of us have done to dial our boots over the years.

Did you go half size down in them?

From what reference point? I’m 1-1.5 size down from street shoe and same size as past boots.

From your other boots. I wear 11s in just about everything (except adidas), but needed 10.5s in the Dialogues.

Oh right on. I don’t think I have the length to have gone any smaller. I’m optimistic with some changes, we’ll see how they continue to break in.

I'm really stoked on Lars' channel.

I wish these types of resources were available earlier. The rule Lars mentioned at the front half of this thread is basically where I ended up after 15 years of trial and error. My foot's about 278 mm, a hair under a US men's 10. His rule of mondo size minus 1 to 1.5 cm rule puts me at 263 - 268 cm waist. That's the exact range my prior 4 daily driver candidates were in, with the exception of Aero 161 at 259. Hell, I literally said a couple days ago my ideal waist width is 263 mm on the dot.

Reminds me of the Nidecker stance width video... basically where I ended up after 15+ years of trial and error.
I also measured all my boards at rear insert packs, and I'm spot on to what Lars suggested.
It took me few years to realize that my ideal boards width are in 250/255 ballpark: in 240/245 width they are way too responsive, and 260+ are sluggish.

Also, I came up as a similar nerdy way to center my boots in my boards

Lars for the win! :D

I would love to know what you guys have done to mod your boots in the past! (serious)

With all that being done, these are the best fitting boots I've ever had...

How have you guys gone about getting a better liner without actually buying the whole boot? Do you think for example messaging Burton they will let me pay for just a life+ liner?
@pow_hnd That's awesome, and the kind of customization stuff I totally geek out on. I've got some foams and such on order to play with. Do you source anything specific?

@bootsmania You can buy liners direct from Intuition, but they have a lot of options to pick from. I'd imagine the average ski department has more experience with custom fitting than the average snowboard department in a shop, but I could be wrong.

Before I ride I take a steaming hot piss right into my boots. Softens up the liner allowing my foot to sink right in perfect. Then as I ride the piss freezes into a perfect mold of my foot giving maximum ankle and heel hold all day long. #lifehack
