Granted DC's most expensive jacket is ~$350 USD and Norrona STARTS at $550. But still. DC claims to have a "45k / 30k" jacket at $330 which is bullshit.

I have to say, I ain't about Dope / Montec, but board brands crying foul about fashion-first crap strikes me as super hypocritical. Board brands outerwear programs have been pumping out shit tier marketing/fashion first for decades. Most "high end" snowboarding outerwear being crap was my lived experience, and that one outerwear professional who popped up in the last version of EL basically confirmed it. Blanking on his name, although I think he's popped up briefly in this version somewhere in the past 38 pages.

Makes me think of 32. Maybe it works in Utah, but their highest end "most waterproof" stuff is just a sponge here. Flat out doesn't work.

You absolutely do not need to be in the $500+ range to get a jacket that keeps you dry, though. Shit, for that $350 you could get a used/last years 2L full kit, for example, when you look around a bit.

Does anybody have experience with the Norrona Tamok line? Kinda intrigued now after @kimchi posted that Torstein interview. I like the minimal aesthetic and have been looking for a jacket in that color blue.

I tried on the Tanok Anorak. I thought it was dope but it's definitely a more Euro cut. Not ski dad smedium, just an athletic trimmer cut. Fit me pretty well except too tight around my hips and ass lol.

Good to know! Torstein is short and skinny as hell, so of course it all looks good on him haha.

Norrona is euro sized, so size up if you get anything and you're not under 175 lbs (what an xl in Europe is sized to fit)

DC was or is using Sympatex, which claims 45K waterproof. It's one of those bullshit monolithic or whatever membrane that actually absorbs the water vapor from your body then expels it out the other side, its not microporous.

There's a reason no one in the industry uses it anymore, if they ever did. Lots of delaming issues as well, i heard.

lol i dont know anything about that sizing i wear a softshell jacket from tierra that is size S and and i have a patagonia jacket that is size L and i wear burton ak cyclic in XL

and i know that japan fit is size up and us fit is size down but is it really like that.

im 183cm and about 87kg 190lbs

Europeans(generally) and Japanese are just smaller than North Americans
at 190 you'll probably find XL Norrona a bit small, and XXL (if you can find it) a bit too big.
There's really zero reason to pay Norrona prices, there's nothing special or revolutionary about it.
