Not sure what boards you usually ride , but 268 ww on the 57 seems like a lot for US 7 (I have the same boot size). Not saying that you won't be able to ride it, but it is probably going to be pretty one-dimensional I think.
I know the struggle though, lots of amazing shapes out there and most of them too wide in the size you'd want. I wish manufacturers would offer different widths for a given size, but not worth it from a production volume angle I guess...
mercury is 259 waist and daily driver outsiders is 255

Keep in mind, boards are not all going to feel the same width, just because of the listed waist. Heavy taper and other design characteristics can change things a lot. I would normally never go for a 269 waist, like on the TF 57, but it doesn't ride or feel like it's that wide. Can't speak to the new one with less taper and 268 waist just yet, but I don't expect to feel much difference in that regard.

That said, yeah it's fairly wide for a size 7 boot.

It's possible the width you want in the board size you want doesn't exist within korua. Otherwise at your size I would easily suggest the TF 57, or pencil 64. Pencil 59 sounds plausible, but perhaps not quite what you need for Japan. However, it would definitely float better than your other boards, and I bet you the rear foot width is a little narrower than your mercury.

yeah i was thinking that tf 57 would be a good change for japan and alps as i dont want any bigger board but would prefer the float, dont want to get a only pow board as it would be no use for 99% of my use.

i think i have to start looking for one to try or just look out for something else.

Unless you really like wide boards I'd look for something else. There are plenty of boards and brands out there. I personally enjoyed the TF a lot. I've got 265 boots and as long as the snow is ok (slush or just enough of it), the Korua boards are fine. In harder snow the wide nose and waist makes them a little bit of a chore to ride with smaller feet. Unless you go down in size maybe.

I also have the same boot size, but I'm quite smaller than @Blessed420 (168cm, 62kg): I agree with you, after a certain width, it's difficult to put a board on edge, and in less then perfect condition you are thrown around by the board. I prefer to have the edges under my toes and heels, and, while I prefer mid/wide boards, with my boot size I prefer to not go over 255mm width. For me from 250 to 255mm is goldilocks.

when I'm ready to buy my first korua (the TF), I'll go with the 150, just because of the width

This ^^^.

And in very cold/bulletproof conditions, they feel very plank-like and adds to the chore-like feeling, coupled with the very wide ww. Unless you're gonna ride soft snow with it regularly, I would aim for one of the sizes with more mid-wide ww.

But to touch on your initial question, I rode the 57 TF+ in Hokkaido a few winters ago and it handled the deeper conditions well enough. Tbf, it was their driest winter that year in over 30 years as per older locals, but was decent enough in the pockets that were at least shin-deep.

Thats why I sold my OG TF57. Preferred the narrower ww and longer ee on my Orbit 157(will be replacing it with Tur Buteo 157)

Stiffer, more responsive bindings will certainly help with that issue.

Just got done with three days at Baldface Valhalla on the Otto 161 and it fucking killed it. First day was super dust on super crust and no board rode well. Then the next two days was about a foot of snow and the Otto was just magical, especially considering it has no taper, back leg didn't get tired and even in the flats I was out running people on "pow" decks. The 268ww helped with that for sure, but it could have been skill as well to a point.

Either way. I'm loving the Otto more and more every time I ride it and deciding to ride it three days on a cat trip to see how it compared, I can say with all honesty that I was never at a disadvantage to anyone else in the group and never fought the deck at all.

10/10 recommend if you don't like taper or prefer a more towards centered stance option deck.
