Hey dude. Have only gotten 1 day so far this season, this winter is likely a write off for me with our 2nd still a few months old. But hoping to at least reach ~10 days by the end of winter. And gonna take it out again on a better day, cos I rode it in -19°C and though it was still relatively fun and very stable at speed like all Koruas, wasn't able to push it as much as I wanted to given it was hella cold and super hard packed.

But from day 1 observations, doesn't feel that much diff from the 59 Pencil, in terms of build. Similar flex & feel with the Poland built ones. Relatively more zippy due to the smaller length and mid-wide ww. Can def see it being a fun tree board as well, but in real powder, not east coast shii 😅. If can fit a 25.4cm ww and don't mind the shorter 53 length, a good dynamic hard charger so far.

i'm similar to you in weight and have run a 154 TF in knee deep with not a single issue, only pure joy. 57 will be fine, especially at ref

This is what I'd ride in Japan if I was your size. I'm 6' (182 cm) and 90 kg (210 lbs)-- few years back I rode a TF 157 at Snowbasin through relatively mellow lines and did fine. If you're doing VERY flat lines I might bump up to a bigger board, but with good line selection you'll be fine.

First time riding the OG TF on colder firmer groomers. Not frozen firm, but firm pack - good for carving steeper angles, as too soft can dig in too much. Immediately noticed it's looser than my other boards, which makes sense having early rise at both ends. Doesn't seem like they mention it in the tail, but it's visually obvious. Felt the flex differences more. Curious how much of what I felt has to do with the heavy taper too, as I'm used to the very minimal taper on the orbit and others, which I personally think is better for carving, especially on hardpack where you are really drawing along the sidecut without much "slip" like you can get in soft or slushy conditions. Curious how much the new shape may change this. Anyway, wasn't exactly a fan, but I'm not really surprised. Orbit would have been solid, or today would've been a good day for the cheater.

I have the Pencil + and I agree the rocker in the tail makes for a loose feeling.

Sounds like a good day for Transmission. ;) Hopefully you would give it a chance in right conditions, personally I prefer Transmission over Cheater for carving. :)

Not sure what boards you usually ride , but 268 ww on the 57 seems like a lot for US 7 (I have the same boot size). Not saying that you won't be able to ride it, but it is probably going to be pretty one-dimensional I think.
I know the struggle though, lots of amazing shapes out there and most of them too wide in the size you'd want. I wish manufacturers would offer different widths for a given size, but not worth it from a production volume angle I guess...

Thanks, sounds really good! 254 ww is also no problem for me (US7 as mentioned above). Still want a Korua in my quiver, and I think it will be either TF 50/54 or Pencil 53/59. I had a Dart 52 before that felt a bit sluggish, but I've since swapped to stiffer/better fitting boots and the difference in response is night and day.
I'll see how well it goes with the 58 Descender next week and go from there. On that board I only have like 4mm boot overhang on either side at the contact points :D
