No, I’m just kidding. I’m sure for people that want that extra snug feeling it’s great. But my personal opinion is that BOA is unnecessary, complicated and expensive. Bataleon Salsa Lace: €329 Bataleon Salsa BOA: €429. Someone, somewhere is having a laugh.

I don't know that actual cost, and I'm sure these numbers have gone up, but BOA used to have minimum MSRP for any product with BOA depending on the category.
single BOA with the recoil had to be at least $250, double BOA $300 is what I recall from when I first started in retail

Doing things intentionally bad is part of the joke and the other part of the joke is pretending it's cool, which makes it cool if you know it's bad, but only because it's cool because if it wasn't cool it would be lame.... I feel like it started in the early 2000s with moustaches and mullets and eagle t-shirts with lightning and it's just progressed to those big red foam boots, supreme making bricks, and whatever kanye (or any other modern rapper) does.
