For some context, love my CartelX but looking for a smidge more response, but not a fan of new Atlas' feel underfoot, either (feels too dead for my taste). Was hoping the Ultra would be somewhat a middle between the two (Atlas & CartelX)?
The Union Ultra should be more responsive than the Strata,
I have to think about it,plus they have mini disk :)

Or maybe a Strata base combined with a Force highback, anyone tried ?

I always found the strata baseplate too gooey to get good response out of them unless on a soft board. I’ve run Stratas with team force high backs and didn’t notice any notable differences. I’m a pretty average snowboarder though, so whatever that means. I ran forces on my korua puzzle and it was a good match though.

i think the Strata backs may actually be stiffer than the Forces’. Strata’s new price point is gonna throw a lot of people off re:stiffness. IMO they’re a solid all around binding with a touch of playfulness but still plenty of response.

my only negative experience with them was on long cat track traverses on an uber-wide board (Jones Storm Chaser) where I got some fatigue, but regular riding they didn’t feel too soft for the width.

no experience on the new Ultra’s yet, but hoping to snag a set this season.

I actually think to mix up a Ultra (2019) with a Strata hb
I think it should be a good surfy mix 🥳

fwiw the pocket rocket is fun as hell but given how thick it is all the way through its probably better for heavier riders. for mini-pow days at my local its definitely the go-to for me now.

im interested to see some of the stuff they've been teasing on instagram.

that’s the last year of the FC Ultra, right? i have a pair, and i’m fairly certain the base on those is the same as the standard Strata base, maybe there’s some extra stiffness in the plastic? but it doesn’t have the super rigid vapor foam like the previous iterations had.

Yes it’s the last year
It’s a bit more responsive and lighter than a Strata
It’s a perfect mix for me

I'm selling my Stealth 63. Love that board, if it just had... basically ANY tail kick, I'd keep it. That notched nose and lack of tailkick make switch very... interesting.

I traded my US Orbit for a TF Plus 157. Fun board, but I'm a touch too big for it at 210 lbs. Fun in the park and mellow cruising, super light. I think I prefer trad construction overall (dampness, bit more momentum for the extra weight), but I have fun throwing it around

If Korua made a TF 160, I'd own one as my daily driver.

is the issue the size or the construction?
