Are you talking about just stiffening the boot or keeping the ankle down? The Nitro Darkside (you mentioned it as a good option) uses a rigid tongue. It is always an option that can be added to the Swath and you keep double boa.

I know the importance of trying boots but my experience is contradictory with this. I have bought boots to try at home and then return them… but the behavior in the snow is sometimes different. I have a 32 that I don't use that were great at home. Several days of testing. It was putting them in the snow and the heel in the air. I bought the Vans Infuse on a whim. assuming that the ankle always lifts up (given the experience of my previous boots) and yet it never lifted up and with them I am happy… I discovered a new world πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ But yes, it is important to try and compare
They stiffen the boot at the natural pivot point and keep the heel down.

This is why I recommend somewhere like REI that will accept a used boot in exchange if it doesn't work out. Otherwise, you'll be reselling used.
Ok I see how the strap works πŸ‘
REI’s system seems great to me but the problem is that I live in Europe

Great @jsil
Gotcha. I would try to find a place to at least try on the swath and photon to see what you're feeling. I agree that how it feels at the shop or at home doesn't often translate to actual riding, but you have to do the best you can.

Another caveat is weight. If you're pretty heavy (I'm around 70kg) then I'd recommend the photon /photon soft even more.

I weigh 67 kilos.
Since Swath and Photon are so different (1 or 2 Boas and strap), my idea was to buy a second hand (either one) and from there draw conclusions and see what I need. But since I have an 8us and S binding, I can't find it. Everything starts at 8.5us and that's already size M πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Happy to ship something to you from the States if you find any deals here (like these: https://rentals.burton.com/products/men ... olor=Black).

Thanks i thought things like that
The problem is that last year I brought something from the US and I had to pay €65 for shipping... and then I had to pay European Union taxes πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«
There are great things there that don't arrive here

I think you may be able to skip the import tax if it's shipped as "a gift" on the form.

If you send it from yourself to yourself or the person sending it does, it seems to work, but they usually check that stuff now, and almost always from businesses.

Think I've given up on stepon now. Burton says there's a 2 mm bigger cleat, but it's not for me because my board is too torsionally soft to qualify. Also the Loback heelcup is supposedly too low to fit any other highbacks on.

They won't just let you buy the other cleats? That's lame.

There are some up on the webshop, but I think they are standard ones, no info anyways. I have 20+ boards too, so I'm sure I could find something stiff enough.
