Bonus miscellaneous pic:
Drift Boards
Mostly use these for snowshoeing with the wife, and sometimes carry a board on my back in case I find a little drop to screw around on. They're fun for quick yoyo missions. Kirkwood allows uphill ascents on low-avy risk days before lifts start running, sometimes I get there early and take a groomer lap before anyone shows up. Only regret with these is the mohair skins weren't available when I bought them. The nylon skins make a very annoying noise in packed snow conditions.
2008 Rossignol Mini 121
Have never put this thing to snow and probably never will. I picked it up cheap from a buddy (Alkasquawlik if he ever shows up here) and use it to fuck around carpet boarding at home without breaking furniture. I had aspirations of picking up a rubber parking lot wheel stopper as a poor man's Snowboard Addiction jib setup, but never got around to it.
2018 United Shapes Cadet 163
Rideable but broken... piece of topsheet fiberglass broke. You can see the break / bubble just left of the mustache stomp pad. Consulted with Johnny Lupo and he said the board's days are numbered. Will probably hang it on the wall someday and maybe take it out for the occasional rock day. Learned a lot about what I like in a snowboard from this board.
2012 Arbor Coda 166
Broken, strictly a wall hanger. Fun story behind this one. My Korean name is Yong Ho, which translates to Dragon Tiger. I found a pic of this board with a pretty striking Asian dragon + tiger motif topsheet a few years back, and really wanted one for the wall. Put out an APB on Snowboard Trader, someone responded with one he'd hit a rock with at high speeds in Chile. Had it in my possession a week later. Completely busted base, but immaculate topsheet.

Covetous. The buteo especially
I bought the Buteo with the idea it could replace my Pencil and Bullet Train, but I find it very hard to get rid of the Koruas. The Pencil is such a fun resort groomer/powder board. The sidecut is super fun and the looseness of the tail makes it fun to play around with in the side pist or up on banks.
tell us more about the tur boards! buteo looks sweet. is the scando grip noticeable?

Yea, love the Korua regular line aesthetic. I dig the silhouette of the board and that blank canvas is sweet for hi-contrast sticker jobs. If they made a TF 160, I'd own one, no question.

I’ll make a thread for Tur in a while. They’re my favourite boards for sure.

Capita BSOD 159 2021 (162 would have been a better size for me, I will try this one and prob swap for a bigger size if I like it)

Interested to hear your Alchemist and Smokescreen thoughts. Alchemist caught my eye and looks fun as hell on bigger missions, but strikes me as too gnarly for everyday driver.
Smokescreen is wild: aggressive freeride shape, mellower all-mountain guts, pig topsheetless build. The last gen Timeless and Commissioner (same shape and mold I think) has been on my demo list just from a "I wonder how that rides" perspective, the Smokescreen joined that list.

The Alchemist isn’t as gnarly as you think. It will serve the spot of a daily freeride all mountainish board in my quiver (more on freeride side due to the directional nature). If you generally like stiffer boards there’s nothing to be scared of. I also like that the sidecut doesn’t feel as low as in the specs, more like in the higher end of 8 m (the designer confirmed that when I PMed him).
I think its best selling points are:
- the flex on the 163 I rode was like a perfect stiffness for both charging hard and enjoying it at slow speeds. It is really dialed.
- the pop from the carves is exceptional
- mogul riding capabilities. I’ve never enjoyed a true red (your black) slope with heavy moguls as much as on the Alchemist. The nose seems to be soft but it has enough stiffness up to the contact points not to fold when driven hard from the front foot in uneven terrain. Absorbs a lot of chatter but remains super lively.
It’a a playful charger daily driver if you ride hard.
About the Smokescreen - I haven’t ridden mine yet but it seems to have a softer nose than the Alche, stiffer mid section and a touch softer tail. This is only the hand flex test.
