The Official Burton Thread
Re: The Official Burton Thread
I liked the new cadet a lot, because it's stiffer and feels more meaty. My older one is fun, but it's a bit softer than I want to ride, so I only use it once in a while as a pre-season rock board. Anyway, they do seem pretty similar spec-wise, but there's so much more to how things feel on snow that you can't know without riding, and I have no experience with the grilo. I'd imagine if you're not overly picky and they both fit the idea you're looking for, you could go with either. Lars' feedback makes it sound "less burtony," which could be a pro or con depending on the rider. Last I recall, they made it seem like it's capable but not intended to be aggressive.. the whole "dad board" thing... but who knows. My guess is the new cadet falls further into the powerful freeride category either way
Re: The Official Burton Thread
I have last seasons cadet, I demo'd the grill, it's noticeably softer. very easy to butter, cadet not so much
fwiw, my cadet was a 154 and the grill was 150

Speaking my language. That's exactly what I want, a freeride shape with mediumish flex.

Check out the Gnu banked country. Exactly what you are describing.

Specs make it seem like a plank. Is it softer?Oldhead wrote: Sat Aug 10, 2024 6:48 am Check out the Gnu banked country. Exactly what you are describing.

While I don't know anything about Burton boards, the Gnu banked country has tons of pop and it's not that stiff as I thought. I'd say it's freeride/all mountain. One of my favorites for sureeleveneightnate wrote: Sat Aug 10, 2024 7:22 amSpecs make it seem like a plank. Is it softer?Oldhead wrote: Sat Aug 10, 2024 6:48 am Check out the Gnu banked country. Not sure if it's what you want, but I find my friend's banked to be softer than expected, maybe 6/10 or so. Definitely not a plank
Re: The Official Burton Thread
The Banked country is a perfect board in every sense..
Re: The Official Burton Thread
It really was my unexpected standout board last season. So much fun.
a bit of taper, a lot of camber
Re: The Official Burton Thread
Very lively flex. Rides much shorter than its length. For sure my favorite board for the last two seasons. I hadn't been on a Mervin board in a couple years and they seem to be doing things right now. Not a plank at all.eleveneightnate wrote: Sat Aug 10, 2024 7:22 amSpecs make it seem like a plank.
