Ok. Fair.

A airbrush-ish box cutter with a strawberry , lame white flames on black, sparse glowing electric arcs or lighting, some triangle with gradients, a skull, some white sparkles on black, some white logo on black, a weird cow on orange... and the rest are nondescript.

It looks like they told AI to make them "unironic mullet energy drink skoal teeth x generic 90s big box brand graphics for snowboards".

Is this the new cool? Have I been relegated to the out of touch dustbin of old age? Lets all embrace the enshittification of the simulation as it becomes a feedback loop of itself and begins to spit out gibberish.

It's not our fault if snowboarding peaked in the late 00's. The kids just don't know...

Did you live through the 90s? Went through some shops recently, hadnt done that in a while. The authenticity of the 90s inspired gear is pretty fucking good. The Beyond Metals stuff, Souvenir(9?) and some of the Volcom stuff nailed the weird super nylon-y feel of that shit, the weird short but wide fits, lack of tech features, short arms heavy stitching, cheap without being cheap of kind feel.

Yah yeah. Born in 80, so 90s was my adolescence.

I haven't seen the stuff you're talking about and I'll credit where credit is due. There's plenty of cool to throwback to ...like Sessions, Rusty, Ton, Twist, Special Blend, B, Ride, or whatever whatever. Bring back the fat short pants and chain wallets. Cool. I'm down.

But if the 90's throwback (if that's what Ride is doing) is to mimic the worst of the generic styles in an attempt to be ironically bad, well, cool but that was poser shit back then and I can't get down.

Don't get me wrong, i wouldn't wear any of it. It's for the most part ugly and not functional. If you're young and tough you can maybe ride all day with a jacket that barely covers your waist and with sleeves that are 2 inches short and 13 inches in diameter, but i'm too old for that shit.
