So this is it for new stuff for me this year.
New Guide Jacket, ripped a hole in my old one last winter.
New set of poles, and a radio for backcountry/splitboarding, a few people I started going out with use them so figured I might as well join in...
Awesome where did you find the jacket?

They were quite honestly, terrible
I think Joey made them for a very specific type of riding and rider
The grips sucked, even though they were three piece poles they didn't actually compress small at all..
I really missed the wrist straps for climbing
I only used them twice and was like, nope

you chose the better of the two Burton X blackdiamond poles... I have both and the compactors and expeditions, the expeditions are better.
black diamond is selling the carbon fiber version of the
compactors on their site for 50% off

Think the problem with the compactors is if you dont tighten them properly, I still use the first alu version, just a basket change. Length might be an issue for some.

If you ski hard with the Compactors, they will break. The expeditions you can ski with no problem.
I lent my compactors to a friend at snowbird, broke on his first run. Went to BD hq in SLC and they swapped them out but said, don't ski with these. hiking, snowshoeing, casual touring, they're fine, anything beyond that get something that telescopes out, the joints on the compactors will snap under weight/force

Yeah, rep said the same when I borrowed the test version. But I guess I don’t ski hard enough

. Got regular onepiece poles for XC skiing though.

I've been running the expeditions for 20 years, this his my 3rd set. Old set got tweaked a little bit in a fall split skiing, still usable, just hard to slide the bottom extension out. Will live in my van as a back up set or for that one person once a year that forgets their poles.

My expeditions lower shaft got tweaked too, but I ordered new one from BD
