Or the bubbles were in the lacquer. It actually looked a bit like a when you varnish a paining sloppily.

No new gear but I signed up for the level 1 course with Canadian avalanche association, we’re hitting up baldface, and I’m hoping to get out touring a ton while I’m out west. Super excited for a winter of growth and stoke!

So this is it for new stuff for me this year.
New Guide Jacket, ripped a hole in my old one last winter.
New set of poles, and a radio for backcountry/splitboarding, a few people I started going out with use them so figured I might as well join in...

Radios are legit. Must have for me while touring or pow days with friends, and if I’m riding with friends I try to have them handy even on groomer days.
When you get separated from a buddy, makes life a lot easy to just do a quick mic check rather than the typical 5 minute wait and eventual “…eh they’re probably fine.”
I didn’t know Rocky Talkies now have hand mics. I go grab one… having the entire radio unit bouncing around on a shoulder can get a little hairy, especially since they’re on carabiners and not alligator clips.

any 2 pin hand mic/speaker will work, it's standardized. I have a Motorola one

I'm wrong. I just double checked the Rocky talky and it uses a different (Kenwood) 2 pin port from Motorola.

Bummer... I'm just gonna ask Jeff what brand their radios are and buy a mic

There are adapters that will connect Motorola radio speakers (the most common one with patrollers/guides) to other radios, but it looks like not the other way around
