Disagree - those are fit and lasting issues, not sizing issues. The point is that Spenser and I are making is not that there is one boot size at which all boots will fit your feet (that is obviously not true - because of different foot shapes, widths, insteps, Greek vs. Egyptian feet, etc.), but rather that if you deviate from your actual foot size a boot basically cannot fit properly (and no lasting, shape, etc. can compensate for that).

Re: The 2022 boot thread
I always used small sizes in my shoes, in my tennis shoes and in my snowboard boots, looking for the maximum support for the best response.
That over the years brought me many complications in my way of stepping and more things. Specifically my snowboard boots hurt, feet numb... always problems in my riding. Year after year
During the confinement everything changed. The story is long. Summarizing and simplifying, now I wear larger shoes than before with more neutral foot shapes. I switched to bigger snow boots and gave a bit of leeway and it all went wrong. I agree with @Spenser . The boot is your size, no less no more. The footwear you choose according to preferences
Half a number less than correct is bad, half a number more is bad. Now I am happy with my vans infuse 26 mondo which is exactly the size of my foot. I think that is the reference. Different brands use different references, for example, 26 mondo for some brands is 8us and for others 8.5us... IMO it's better to look for foot measurements and then try different boots until you find the right one for each one. And the other problem is that the boots feel different in the shop than inside the bindings and sliding...
I agree with @kimchi , most of us fit badly... just like we eat badly and that brings problems...

Yes. Can really help with sizing. For width place the inside of your foot against a wall, then measure from the wall out to the widest point on the lateral (outside) of your foot .As @kimchi said he's a EEE last width and Im a EE and need wide model boots.Jean77 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 3:03 amThe widest part of my foot?

Would like to add how to measure your feet, both length and width. Wouldn't recommend Brannock since sizing can be a little bit of im my experience. Also this width chart to determine what width you need.kimchi wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 2:37 pm I'm starting a snowboard blog to stay sane and involved while on the sidelines.
Still setting up the website, but my first draft post is a boot fit guide. Would love your beautiful nerd eyeballs on it.

Re: The 2022 boot thread
Thanks. I've always been a little skeptical of these charts because even if you get foot dimensions down to the millimeter, I still don't REALLY know which boot I should buy (at least in the absence of lasting and sizing information the brands don't provide). IMO directionality and strong understanding how boots should fit is more important than precision of measurement.unsuspected wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 7:25 amWould like to add how to measure your feet, both length and width. I'm going to play around with this one though.
Re: The 2022 boot thread
If you go to get fitted for ski boots, they will at least measure the right size, and say it’s for ski boots, because the snowboard boot overlay is wrong. They may recommend going down half a size because of some brands not doing shells in half sizes, just varying liner or insole thickness. That’s not usually a thing with snowboard boots anymore. Brands admitting footshapes that don’t fit their boots won’t happen, so we just gotta keep trying. The fit even varies within the brands, so it’s kinda fucked.
Re: The 2022 boot thread
I'm thinking I might try the transcend in 8.5 if I get another pair. Been a while - last 8.5 was the Nike ZF1. They're good in 9, but occasionally I feel like it's borderline & I could bump down. My foot measures 26 3/4, so I'm technically between the two. That would make the shell the same as size 9 ions like I'm used to, and with tread shaving like I did on the current pair, would be nice and slim. Maybe a hair better response from the fit.
I really like the tan color, but curious about next year's color options.

Re: The 2022 boot thread
I got to try on Nidecker boots, can't remember if it was Kita or Altai but no go. Too narrow for me with wide feet. The shop guy told that the Index boots might be wider and a better fit but didn't have any to try so maybe will order a pair.

Re: The 2022 boot thread
Im bad at narrow fitting boots but think most will be good since boots are made in D width. If i'm not mistaken Salomon fits narrow.
