The Step On thread
Re: The Step On thread
but what is this that I just found on instagram!!!
speechless gadget for old people
Outside of “this” I remember a system that Burton invented for Japan and that lasted a year, to unhook the boot from the binding by pulling a lever or something similar upwards...

Re: The Step On thread
Well, if people actually struggle to reach, the stock stepon lever is just as hard to reach as straps.
Re: The Step On thread
Exactly. You'll see endless reels of people jumping into them etc, but zero reels about the ridiculous egress (no easier than normal strap bindings), the plight you will have when your pants get caught in the mechanism (hint: you're cutting your pants to get out) or when they eject you mid run, Step Ons are fucking dumb. The only thing dumber than Step Ons are the people who use them.casjcade wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2025 4:18 pm Well, if people actually struggle to reach, the stock stepon lever is just as hard to reach as straps.

Bullshit, you know exactly how your replies are coming off. You are either on the spectrum or just a dumb asshole, probably both.jsil wrote: Sun Dec 29, 2024 9:11 pmThe reason I responded is because this guy posted a video of self-acknowledged user error like it was a reason not to try the system. The only point of that post and the above response is trolling IMO which is fine, he or anyone can do that if they want, but I'll call them out on it. The Internet is full of trolls and misinformation. I can tell you that nothing I've said, even if offensively delivered to some, had been trolling or misinformation.G.D. wrote: Sun Dec 29, 2024 8:49 pmI believe you mean well with your strong Step-On advocacy, esp with your mentioned skepticism prior, iirc. It's the delivery of your feedback really that's coming off pretty abrasive, whether intended or not. And/or dismissive of those that still prefer the traditional method, despite trying some version of the Step On.
I have no horse in this race. I like traditional bindings, but def open to trying Step Ons at some point as I do like the idea of more performance benefits, with added benefit of relatively quicker "strapping in", so to speak. But just the way the advocacy is relayed could def be improved, fwiw .
I'm not trying to be dismissive at all, I hope it isn't taken that way. This whole thing with this one guy is because I tried to help explain/rectify a perceived "negative" of the system because they were solvable warranty issues and not functioning as normal. They can do what they will with that, but there is nothing sloppy about the system and if you experience that there is a boot fit issue or some other underlying configuration/warranty situation that is causing it.
I've seen most of what can happen with this system because I've put so many days, seasons and other people on them. Unless you're in the industry, have time, disposable income or a combination of, it's hard to try everything that is out there. As you pointed out, I only tried them selfishly to get a low intermediate vacationing friend on a faster system.
People can choose to ride whatever that want, I was actually trying to help. I'm also not married to the system, but it's the best I've found so far for my style of riding.

Re: The Step On thread
I can't decide what's sadder: AyAyron's traumatic experience at last year's Burton First Ride Demo Days wearing Beyond Medals Poofy Streets Is Watching parachute cargos resulting in a Flight For Life evacuation out of his Step Ons like a Baby Jessica; or if JSil is secretly Donna Carpenter furiously typing away like a Next Door grandma concerned about the possum gang congregating outside her kitchen window all the while being all hopped up on a spicy cocktail of Adderall and Carlo Rossi and nervously checking the monthly sales vs. Genesis SO highback hammock warranty returns spreadsheet that Corporate keeps emailing out.
You both acting goofy.

Re: The Step On thread
That's hilarious and you're right, but this guy continues to be a dick and it's hard not to reply and keep pressing his buttons. I have to do something while I stew at ground zero as the Vail Resorts implosion makes my home resort of PCMR totally unrideable. I can hear the ski patrol picket line from my house. I haven't been up since Xmas day and I'm a 10 minute walk to the lifts. What a disaster and fuck Vail.spanyard wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 5:06 am I can't decide what's sadder: AyAyron's traumatic experience at last year's Burton First Ride Demo Days wearing Beyond Medals Poofy Streets Is Watching parachute cargos resulting in a Flight For Life evacuation out of his Step Ons like a Baby Jessica; or if JSil is secretly Donna Carpenter furiously typing away like a Next Door grandma concerned about the possum gang congregating outside her kitchen window all the while being all hopped up on a spicy cocktail of Adderall and Carlo Rossi and nervously checking the monthly sales vs. Genesis SO highback hammock warranty returns spreadsheet that Corporate keeps emailing out.

BTW, the Genesis highback I blew out was the only Step On related issue I've ever had so... Spot on! That hammock design was so questionable, but it seems to be totally fixed (and function is even improved) in the EST Step On. Here's to hoping that they update the standard reflex Genesis highback to the new design for 25/26. They should have done it already, but like you half jokingly alluded to, it's probably a warranty vs sales vs cost of new molds/manufacturing decision...
