Like OP said, you can actually hear it on snow. I guess I don’t see the point of structure like that on a park board, but maybe it's conditions-dependent. Had a few buddies get base grinds to remove it, too.

If it's that bad, there's usually something else that's off too. Like nose lift vs contact points, or board flex vs body weight. But yeah, I've had factory structure so deep there wouldn't be much left of the base if I tried to get it leveled.

Fixed a small edge to sidewall delam on my Capita Outsiders. About 2 inches in length. Heel edge right inline with the front inserts. Epoxy, clamp, clean up excess, etc.

Today I went to ride it and the board felt weird on heel edge. Almost as if something was catching right in that area. Edge isn't bent and fairly certain I cleaned up the epoxy enough that it shouldn't be the cause. Is it possible the new epoxy is causing a "hard spot" and making the flex inconsistent in that area? Used a slow cure epoxy (not marine grade, I know this would have been ideal, but I went with what I had available).

It’s 100% because you didn’t use the right epoxy. With what you’re describing I’d anticipate the fix will fail within a few days. You need Marine Grade Flexible or else it will crack and break inside and then fail.

The dead spot is the epoxy you used not flexing.

G-Flex is what you need.

It’s 100% because you didn’t use the right epoxy. With what you’re describing I’d anticipate the fix will fail within a few days. You need Marine Grade Flexible or else it will crack and break inside and then fail.

The dead spot is the epoxy you used not flexing.

G-Flex is what you need.
Ok, I'll get some of that ordered. In the meantime do I keep riding and let the wrong epoxy crack so it's easier to remove or do I need to manually remove it before riding again and if so, how?

Image That's the only pic I took after the repair and before I cleaned up the excess epoxy. Should I try to get in there with some kind of chisel or small flathead screwdriver and break up the material? Lesson learned. Do shit right the first time.

Hopefully not. I did get it opened back up and scraped out what I could from the wrong epoxy. I'll work on it little by little over the next few days and did get some G flex ordered. If you have any other tips in the meantime definitely appreciated.

I wish you the best, but I’m saying without you being an experienced tech, and already putting in the wrong epoxy and where it is, heel edge at inserts.

I would not anticipate or expect any repair to hold for long.

Doesn’t mean you might not luck out, but that spot is one of the absolute hardest to fix.
