I have a big pref for camber myself. One of the reasons my Gentem Stingray mostly sits in the closet. Interesting about your experience with the Covert as that's what I was thinking of using in Japan

Where in Japan are you splitting? I'm trying to plan a tour there this winter
Will hit in the north island. I know a few spots around Kiroro and by Furano. You going solo, group or a tour?

I like my squash 63 (older one with 260 width) but due to placing the climbing location too far forward between the inserts, I have to set my stance a bit forward to clear the front toe bracket with sparks, since they slide on, leaving me centered on edge instead of its factory setback that I like. Also want a little more taper, width, and no swallowtail so the tail kick helps prevent v-ing. Eyes heavily on the new US covert 61. Seems right up my alley… basically a more tapered cadet with a little more width. Feel like I'd split a little more if I really loved the board.
I have been absolutely loving my Cardiff Swell 160.

Here you go, wide is basically the same but +10mm. Small French company though, so might not be easy to get to you..

It has the similar US feel, but despite the width it's way turnier than the Cadet (in a good way for wiggling through trees anyway). The sidecut specs etc. are similar, so I assume the more nimble feel is probably due to all that extra taper. It also has a more set back feel than the Cadet. I haven't had mine in powder yet but my guess is that it probably also floats like a champ due to all of the above.

Ever since I picked up a Cadet last spring, I've become a US fanboy. I've got about 7 days on the season so far and also have a Horizon still in the wrapper, just waiting for a decent snow day to give it a thrashing. Between my US decks and my Banked Country, I'm a pretty happy dude. I still love my Dart, although that's become more of a quiver board ever since I got the Cadet.
Transmission trade finally went down, so I'll have a cadet 62 soon, and just ordered a covert 61 🎉

Unfortunately their large skins were out of stock. My Union/kohlas could work for now, but tail clips will be weird since they're set up on the opposite side due to squash tail (thus skins are also cut/shaped differently). I'm not picky, but lean more toward easy grip vs extra glide... anyone have current suggestions? Don't really feel like paying full price if possible.

If you can make them fit on the nose somehow, you might be able to either drill out the rivets and make a longer strap in the tail and some spare g3 clips or just wrap it around somehow.

These Montana Glueless Skins have been the best skins I've ever used.

Watch this video of them.

Covert showed up. Beautiful board. Closest production model I'm aware of to what I'd likely design as a dream split.

It's actually fairly similar to the dimensions & lines of the updated transition finder 57, but camber is slightly longer, and has the finished tip. The nose has a beautiful flowy profile that I'm pretty excited about.

Pretty stoked I can set it up however I want, whereas I had to run almost zero setback on the squash in order to clear the touring bracket that's too far forward. Rode fine, but always felt a little off.

Came with union hooks & clips, instead of Karakoram as shown on the website. I'm swapping in my phantom hooks regardless, but interesting. Forgot to consider thread differences, and will need different hardware for the phantoms.

Just finished mounting, and I'm impressed with the torsional rigidity. The fit of my squash is excellent, but it feels more like a typical split in that regard. This feels like a regular board.. at least in the living room. Tail is also nice & rigid thanks to having a real kick to prevent v-ing.

Now all that's left is… snow. Weather is pretty fucked and warm/rainy right now. Not sure how well what little upper snowpack we have is going to fair after these few days.
