Got my first day of the season in today. Classic early season Colorado slush at Keystone, felt good to shake the rust off. I also tried the new K2 bindings (the Editions, specifically) and actually really liked them. Will follow up in the K2 thread.

They have Schoolmarm open and a mini park, it was actually pretty fun! Tons of sidehits.

that's rad, ill be living up in silvy most of the winter and doing plenty of skistoned night laps. wish i bought a basin pass this year too.... possibly a mistake but figured i'd go to keystone on days where my calendar isn't too heavy.

I really need to set a proper surf trip on a break someday. Just sit on the beach for a few weeks, go out when it's good, chill when it's not. The weekend warrior / 9-to-5 life is really not conducive to getting better at surfing, especially in California where I need a wetsuit. I get the conditions I get and can't easily link together multi-session days or consecutive days.

I've done a couple days in Hawaii while traveling, but even that's not quite the same as just being in middle of nowhere right on the break.

I've had noticeable progression after taking weeklong trips to Mexican and Costa Rican point breaks. Being able to going out every day and sit in the same spot as consistent waves roll through is the best way to learn for sure.

i grew up surfing in NJ and my skill has fallen off of a cliff since leaving the coast unfortunately. was in biarritz a few years ago surfing for a few days and mistimed snaps and basic turns and got chucked off my board so many times. timing seems to have gone away along with general water fitness as expected. thankfully, reading the ocean and getting to the right spot didn't disappear.

on that note, going to a consistent point for a few weeks would be unbelievable for skill improvement, and i can only imagine spending a few sessions in a wave pool would advance skill level dramatically. you could get more waves over the course of 10 hours in a wave pool that most people get in a year
