I may be assuming the type of ride you're looking for, but I get the sense you want a directional freeride board that floats well, but is a fun & capable daily driver for all conditions & styles. That's what I thought the Shorty would be, but my experience on snow has been very different.
For example, the squash is very capable for everything. I always felt total confidence on it, no matter what I was doing. I also feel that way on the fish, even though it's much more directional. Seems to be an unpopular opinion, but I don't feel that with the Shorty at all. The biggest thing for me is the nose… it's very soft, and very rockered, and I simply have no confidence on it. It doesn't feel supportive to me, and that's a dealbreaker. It may be better for a very light rider who is also sizing up, like if you rode the 159. Lars is 135lb and prefers the 164 wide, but could easily ride the 69 every day.
I could be wrong, and you could really like it for what it is - but even then, I just think there are better choices for you. I'm still bummed it didn't work out for me, because it's so beautiful. I know exactly how I would change it to fix the problem I have, but that's not the point.
Coincidentally while I'm replying to you, he just posted a product video for the 2024 model, with some shots of me in it
