A Thread For Goggles
Re: A Thread For Goggles
Guys, I need a suggestion: I currently have an AirBlaster goggle, that is great for mixed condition, but not plain sun, and a goggle for bad weather, that is falling apart.
I would like to buy two goggles, one for bad weather, and one for sunny days, And keep the AirBlaster for mixed condition.
I can't buy the Squad Mag or the XL, the oversized goggle are too big for me.
So I would stay on the Smith Squad standard.
What you would buy if you were me, what would be the lenses of choice?
what you think about the ChromaPop Sun Red Mirror Lens, for sunny days? Or is better to go with the black lens (ChromaPop Sun Black Lens, that should be less versatile than the ChromaPop Sun Red Mirror Lens, it should work only with plain sun).
ChromaPop Storm Rose Flash Lens for bad wheather, should be OK.
what you think?
(I don like to replace the lenses on the frame, I prefer to bring two or three goggles and select the correct one for the day)

thanks!

I am the opposite of you, and prefer to carry as few goggles as possible. I'm currently very happy with my Julbo photochromic goggles. I have the Skydome Reactive CAT 0-4 model, but they have smaller fits available. Their contrast-enhancing tech is also quite good, and on par with other big brands. Mine have worked on everything from a heavy snow morning in Whistler, to bluebird warm afternoons in Argentina. Only thing I haven't tried them on is riding at night, but they do get quite clear when they've been in my closet, so I'm thinking they'll work fine.Vanni wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 5:24 am Guys, I need a suggestion: I currently have an AirBlaster goggle, that is great for mixed condition, but not plain sun, and a goggle for bad weather, that is falling apart.

If you're going to get photochromic goggles, I'd suggest you get at lest CAT 1-3 to actually have versatility. CAT 0-4 are hard to find, but obviously they're even more versatile.
Re: A Thread For Goggles
@vanni I have the chromapop black and sun red, really prefer the sun red. They give better definition and seem more well rounded, the black are kinda meh (using IO mag xl). I also really like the everyday green. I’m in Washington though so we get very little in the way of bright sun!

@pow_hnd @jclinares thank you, I'll take a look at those (but I'm almost set on the Squad)
@scrub thanks! This helps a lot

I travel with one goggle, and 2 lenses (sunny and clear). I used to pack multiple goggles but the magnetic lens tech you find in Giro, Smith, and Anon is good. Smith makes a magnetic version of their Squad frames too
black lenses are kinda overkill unless you're on a glacier and expect 100% sun
