Yeah, out of all people I should complain less, as I rarely do anything else, but carving, and I am not really complaining. :) Actually, handling of Cheater starts to be a lot more natural for me (4th day on Cheater).

Today I tried 56cm/22” stance, middle of insert pack in rear, one step forward from the middle in front, and this generated probably best handling experience so far, but again. very little difference. Also, it felt too wide for me, as I was riding lately 53cm on Amplid Pentaquark. So, I changed back to middle-middle (54cm) and rode happily for the rest of the day. 8-)

You may wonder, why did I expect to feel big difference from so small change? Before Pentaquark I did not believe myself, that 2cm in stance matters, but with Amplid I found out that only one stance position works for me and any 2cm change from there kills handling for me “completely”.

It’s a stiffer board with lotsa camber, so you have to be more active at lower speeds, feels better when you do that. Flat boards you can be more lazy with, they can ride just as hard, but without the pop. Seems like you are close to figuring it out. Cheater in icy moguls is an experience, but once you point it where you want, the board does alot of the work.

Feeling confident coming to the conclusion that my first Shorty wasn't actually a dud, I just don't like rocker or forgiving flex in any part of the board. Decided I felt fine putting it up for sale. I'm still very much an outlier in that it didn't work well for me, so hopefully whoever snags it will really enjoy it. Barely used, and they don't really go on sale, so hopefully someone is stoked on a deal.

Still not sure what to do about the 2024. I mean, I should give it another shot, but it's just not my jam. Fuck it looks good, though.

If he built a cheater and stamped out the Shorty shape instead, that would be an absolute mindblower

Felt some of the same thing testing it a few years ago, but on low angle perfect groomers it’s crazy good. Could be my need to have that solid edge feedback in front of the front foot all the time, and these boards have a rocker that starts right there, or at least thins out for the flex. I think the board would lose what a lot of people love about it, if it’s changed too much. I could adapt to it, be more neutral or backseat, but I already have boards that suit me well. I also have boards that are similar to the shorty, and I don’t really love them, most of the time.

FWIW, i still like the 164w a lot. i prefer it in softer snow (not necessarily powder), but it holds fine when its shitty too. it feels like spenser said, but it holds an edge for me no problem (i’m 220). i asked mats if a 169w was possible but he wasn’t optimistic about the prospects. that would be the dream.
