They need to round the corners of their baseplates. I'd grab some Cartels again if they didn't have that little sharp flare at the bottom that has dented a few of my decks.
That design flaw is pretty much an open secret. I don't really care about topsheet dents too much, but I've seen multiple board breaks propagating off that sharp point at the heels. Had a frank convo with a buddy who used to run warranties for a board brand, and he told me it was definitely Reflex breaks were a noted trend and they just capitulated when it happened to their boards. They're a victim of a wildcard external design factor... but the consumer also didn't do anything wrong and won't respond well to "well it's Burton's fault..."

I wonder if Burton cares more now that Step-Ons are Reflex only, and the flaw is more likely to affect channel boards. Although perhaps typical Step On riders are not stressing their equipment too hard lol.

Back during the Forum "Shaka" binding days (basically the Reflex prototype), the marketing hyped up the continuous underfoot flex as creating LESS stress on boards and making breakage less likely. In practice, seems like it actually increases chances of failure (at least with that sharp point).

Burton rep told me couple months ago that Flux is licensing Step On for 23/24. Made it sound like that might be Japan-only (Flux's home market), but that the plan was always to have Step On become a new licensable standard.

Supposed to, but haven’t seen it in the catalogs yet. I really like my 155 a lot for a do-it-all board when I don’t know what to grab. Healthy amount of camber, 260mm waist. I will say the flex difference between the 150 and 155 is huge. 150 is a total noodle and the 155 feels somewhere between the custom and process.

are we sure this is gonna be Flux licensing the binding tech? had the realization the other day when talking StepOn that Flux makes boots for the Japan market, too, so it could just be another boot brand added to the license. but if another brand was gonna license the actual binding tech, Flux makes the most sense.

Oh wow, that video's from 10 months ago so I probably go the timeline wrong. I'd guess you can get them now.
