Mid 160s
Stiff 8/10
125-130 edge
260 waist or so
Mid 8 sidecut
Camber or a little early rise
Enough tail kick
Mild taper ~5-10mm
Alchemist 64W is close, but not actually as directional as it seems, and just like a bit larger radius/etc. Some Koruas are kinda close too, but don't want the heavy taper or quite that wide of waist, otherwise I'd already have one. Even thought about revisiting the hovercraft, but not a fan of spoon, Jones, or the flat tail. Tur Buteo has been recommended too, but I'd want the 62 - apprehensive about the waist and DDing a 9.5 radius
Orbit will continue to be a love of mine, just want a more powdery nose shape & overall longer length.. otherwise the "math" is right on. Next year's transmission is on the want list.

To me there are clear things about both of those boards that are not what I want, but I don't want to hear myself sound overly picky

Have you looked into the Mtnpig? Pretty burly board, demoed both the Alchemist and Pig this season before buying and it just seems like the pig is a hair carvier and stiffer than the Alchemist. Been my DD since I've picked it up and haven't looked back tbh.Spenser wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 7:25 pm Still perpetually on the hunt for my ideal DD floaty-freeride board with carving dna... seemingly a very common type of board these days, but hard to find one with all the right "math." Re: The Official quiver thread
I guess the short way to put it is the orbit is already pretty perfect, and has set the bar re: what I'm hoping for. If a board has traits that are a bit of a drawback (for me) compared to what I have with the orbit, there's no reason to consider it, as I'm not hunting for a spot in the quiver I don't already have, nor seeking the excitement of something new/different just for the sake of doing so (did that for years ). Maybe not obvious to others, but the other three mentioned have a variety of "drawbacks" vs the orbit (again, for me personally), and vs the alchemist too.
That said, the transmission is the literal next step up from the orbit. So, I'm always open to discovering boards I don't already know about, and wanted to send my list into the internet-ether for it to manifest itself - but because "the" board is coming out later this year, looking at anything else has sort of become a moot point. However, if a 2022 alchemist 64W came up, might still have to give it a shot.

It's a good place to be when only a unicorn is attractive. I've got a similar situation and even though I pick stuff up, invariably I sell it after a ride or two.

Yeah, that resonates. Tried so many boards over 10 years when I had super easy access, and now I don't have that, but sure learned what I like. At a point where I'm totally fulfilled by my quiver & they don't get old, but can't help the endless pursuit of my perfect DD.
Have I mentioned orbit with cadet tips in the last few days? Im slacking.

So true lol, I find myself always looking for the perfect board and using that to justify another few hundred dollar purchase...Spenser wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 4:46 pm Yeah, that resonates. @Spenser I'm sorry, I'm not the best rider to recommend something to you and at this moment in my life I hate camber, but yes to say that I agree 100 × 100 with you, since when I rationally think about the most logical specifications, I find myself the emptiest market.
In the end I came to the conclusion and this is what I can tell you, or make you reflect, although I suppose you have already thought about this, that sometimes I think that the best thing would be to make a Custom board, so I was looking for snowboard handmade custom manufacturers and I came to zen and first lab track, phenix… and some other brands.
And finally and sadly I found that the most logical and correct specifications for me changing every six months ... so today I am happy with my hybrid cambers and thinking about the next one board…
maybe and just maybe the search for the new board is one of the nice and fun things about snowboarding

Think the closest I have to this is the 61w XV, don’t like it for everything, but works well with drive/mercury.Spenser wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 7:25 pm Still perpetually on the hunt for my ideal DD floaty-freeride board with carving dna... seemingly a very common type of board these days, but hard to find one with all the right "math." Re: The Official quiver thread
A curiosity: if you measure your board from above, the measurement may not be real due to the nose and tail curves. but if you measure below, the measurements are correct. It’s the length of the board. The other day I measured my fish 151 and it really measures 148. There is an error there… this hasn’t happened with any other board of mine
