Pretty much. Only difference I'm aware of is a slight tweak to the wood used in the nose. The current purple one has paulownia stringers/"inserts," in place of some of the ash/poplar, but the new one goes back to all ash/poplar. Could mean a tiny bit more dampening in the nose. Lars says the flex feels the same.

The purple one was upgraded from the original woodgrain by adding titanal stringers in the nose (stiffer, more damp) and PU sidewalls for better edge dampening, and the new one still has those additions. I'm assuming the added paulownia inserts were to offset the weight of the titanal, but then he decided to stick with ash for "feel."

Titanal is huge in skis, seems to be just making its introduction in mainstream snowboarding.

the center rod in the newest iteration of the Indoor Survival was the first time i’d seen it used by a major brand.

there was a wave of tit-anal for awhile, and the honeycomb stuff, and its been back now for a few years, but it gets more expensive, harder to work with and the boards wear out quickly

But other than that I don't think I'd ever seen it mentioned except in race decks, alpine boards, or maybe a few custom shapers. I know Mikey Franco was experimenting with it.

I was an R&D rider for Salomon pretty much from the time they spun up till Amer bought them... So more than a decade.

Titanal was in several Salomon board in the EARLY 00's

Most notably the Definition

Then made it's way into other decks.

This is a Fastback that I had them lay up with Titanal ( non - production ) for me... Rode that deck on 3 continents that year and like 6/7 countries. Still one of my favorite all time decks which is why it still hangs in my office.

I knew Ride was throwing metal on some boards, but couldn’t remember if they were using Titanal by name or not.
