Mystery solved, I no longer have to be jealous of a 12 year old.

props to him though, it's the only core snowboard shop left in the nyc region'ish. all the other ones closed shop which is crazy given that it's the largest city in the us
Jackson is the man. Great steward of snowboarding and a mensch. I saw him pop up on DMQ years ago and was headed to New York for a business trip. I pinged him, said I was down with his vibe and would love to visit the shop, but wasn't sure if I could make it work. Dude totally unsolicited offers to PICK ME UP from EWR and take me to the shop. For nothing more than to bullshit about the industry and nerd out for a couple hours.

Dude moves units. Wouldn't be shocked if he sells more Union, Capita, and 32 than any non-online behemoth in the country. He also plans and executes trips out West for his customers-- I know they do Tahoe every year and possibly Utah.

That's what I was hoping to hear. He posts and responds to a few local fb groups, there were a few instances that I wanted to reply with a different opinion but stoped because I didn't want to dissuade anyone from buying boards from him — like I said, he's the only shop left so I'm pulling for the guy and hope he does well. Glad to hear he's a cool guy.

Yea I feel you. Bay Area is a shop desert-- even the Burton flagship shut down earlier this year. If I want to visit a shop core enough to carry Slush Magazine, I'm looking at a 2 hour drive into the Sierra foothills.

As a consolation our local big box chain Sports Basement is the best possible version of the big box chain-- but it's not the same as being in a real board shop.

FWIW the owners at my dope "local" (Milo Auburn) love Jackson more than I do. When I texted the owner to tell him I was visiting Out of Bounds his response was something like "I'm jealous you get to hang out with Jackson."

Going through stuff in my mini-camper/micro-dojo, or as I consider it, homelessness prevention.

The OG charlie. So OG, it's a pre-production board - truly one of the first ever made. The thing has been handled.. still rideable, but it's been out of the running for years. First free board I ever received, and with a handwritten note from C3. It actually had more to do with EL and the C3 presence at the time, than it did us being a capita dealer.

I was partial to the second year graphic, but this is my second favorite.

I agree. In particular for me, it's the era before they introduced flatkick in 09. I remember a couple friends who had early models around 05, and then I got First Kiss fall 06, which I watched a million times. The aesthetic, the vibe, the graphics, the team… it was one of the first companies I really felt like I clicked with, along with Airblaster. I was a big fan of Tyler Lepore back then.

Can't forget the shapeshifter/etc

The 2008 outdoor living is still one of my favorite graphic series. I had the 58 (middle) but never rode it.
