Midwest Meet Up(s)

They’ll put you in a better mood when you shred ‘em, so pull up a chair and talk about ‘em

I may be able to find myself at Bohemia this weekend. Though.... the current lack of snow in the UP and warm up this next week makes me question the viability of such an endeavor. Fingers crossed Febuary is a banger.

Almost had the place to ourselves for about an hour. Picked the slush slasher for kicks. Always surprises me how fun it is on corduroy, but there is not much to push against heelside with the short rocker tail.
Hows the park situation there?

I wouldn't be adverse to riding sunburst again sometimes soon if yur going

their website states 60" in the last week, that seems high. but one of my coworkers was there last week, I'll see what intel he has when he's back in the office tomorrow.

I didn't venture over there, but it looked really sparse from the chair. They appear to only set up one half of the towrope. A friend that rides almost exclusively park told me "it isn't what it used to be". All that said, I haven't done any park riding at all in the past years due to a very messed up back, and am feeling like I want to dabble a bit again. I wonder what things will look like after two warm weeks and rain.

They may have got 60" but before that they had barely crusted dirt. Their average is 400"... so while 60" inches sounds banger, for the terrain those totals are really lacking. Also, they rely on lake effect and for those average snowfall totals to happen, which means really cold air to sweep across superior (the colder the better... like sub zero is ideal) and pick up moisture, but the next 10 days are all forecasted in the high 30's with no storms...so even whatever they have now will be melting.

I hate to be pessimistic but without new snow I would not be all that surprised if they are closing runs by month end. We'll see.

Here's current conditions at another UP ski hill, that like Bohemia doesn't make snow (but they obviously do groom) .... now add a week of no snow and above freeing temps. The UP is my playground in winter and I'm dying to go, but I don't know what I'd be going for right now. We need a miracle February.

Damn that looks terrible. Hopefully fills in for the later half of the season.
@C.Fuzzy I'm MKE based. Probably nothing this weekend with the warm temps and a busy schedule generally. Hope to get out a few more times before my trip at the end of Feb though.

Alright alright. Well, despite rain for the last 24 hours... I'm still going to try to ride. Tomorrow just helping some youngsters get out on the hill. But Sunday, *fingers crossed* I'll be headed somewhere to... idk.. ride groomers I guess.
