How do you like them? Have the new XF and really dig them.
I've been using an older pair of XF for a while and really liked them. Decided to buy the CVs to get a bit of more support over the ankles on toe side carves. Been contemplating a pair of new XFs as well and when someone wrote they'd only be in Japan in the future I panicked and bought a pair.
I think the toe ramp is easier to adjust than on the old XF. The CVs have the same adjustment as the old XF by the way. I think the XF are perfect as an all mountain binding. I love the fit of the toe strap and the buckles work well. It's not a bad thing they added some padding to the footbed but I didn't really have a problem with the old one.
Sometimes wish they'd put a hinge on the ankle strap and bent the straps to point a bit outward. Once attached they're fine. Great bindings.
Perhaps I'll see if I can swap the ankle strap on the CVs I haven't tried them on the Buteo or the Bullet Train yet.

Remember the old Burton diode straps? I had so many pairs of those at one point. Felt so good on unions.

I run 2019 Katanas with that same foam strap with the hexagonal support piece. It's way comfier for me than the newer hard plastic ones. I might try to get some spares if they still make them. The Bataleon Infinity strap looks decent too so that might be an option.
I may start working other bindings into the rotation other than my Jones Mercury. I've been riding NOW/Jones almost exclusively for 6-7 seasons now, basically any day I don't go splitboarding. Feeling a little-- not stale, but curious.
Sheer boredom I swapped out Mercurys for some backup reflex Cartels while carpet boarding, and suddenly felt more locked in on landing 180 nose butters with otherwise identical setup. I can do them with either binding, but with the Cartel I seemed to have a little better pop and little better finesse and precision on the landing. Generally more lateral mobility and tweak-ability.
Want to test on snow in the spring. If I had to guess, I'll enjoy carving and mountain riding more on Mercury, but probably enjoy more fucking around and park days on the Cartel when I don't care as much about edge-to-edge precision or dampening as much. Trade-off on SkateTech made sense when I was all about that Korua life, but open to experimenting now that I'm doing a little more park and all-mountain freestyle riding.
Also been goddamn forever since I had adjustable heelcups. Would be nice to not have to compromise on stance micro-adjustments on a 4x2 pattern.
i feel that kimchi, i love the NOW platform and the ridiculous response. prior to that i was running the genesis EST on my burton set ups and that is possibly my favorite binding ever.
going to get something a little softer for my aeronaut as the now drives are too much on that thing, want more flex and movement for tweaking
I notice other bindings are a little easier to pop. My flux’s have really good board feel and direct connection to the board. Always some trade offs, I think.
Your post makes sense - kinda curious to try unions next year.
Mentioned this in the bored review thread, I have Ride Cadence (women's Insano) boots with Now Drives & hard bushings atm. That combo does not fare well, I just had non-stop pain in the mid-foot area. Tried the same setup with Deeluxe rental boots the last two days and it was a night and day difference. Was a bit too ambitious with the Cadence as well and bought too small/they don't pack out as much as I hoped, so I am shopping for new boots once again.
What boots you guys are running with Now/Jones bindings?
Only for those white leather straps!
