Ah fuck, didn't realize you were up there. Buddy and I made the trek up for the day, took me 5 hours from the East Bay... Worth it though, was on the Squaw side, snow was great.

Next time! Busy the next few weekends, eyeing 2/23-25 as the next time I'll be up there, unless I skate out for a mid-week day trip.bboytommy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 12:25 pmShould've texted ya, doh!Alkasquawlik wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 11:27 amAh fuck, didn't realize you were up there. FIS Stifel Cup 2/23 - 25 FYI. They'll basically take over Red Dog and Far East lift. At that point they might just shut down Resort Chair too, since it basically cuts that part of the resort off.Alkasquawlik wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 12:38 pmNext time! Re: Tahoe
Yup, waffling whether I want to head up during that weekend purely because of the FIS race. I have a friend who lives in OV and they're bugging me to come up and stay with them, so we can go see the Ludacris/Eve 6 showkimchi wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 12:46 pmFIS Stifel Cup 2/23 - 25 FYI. Re: Tahoe
I've pretty much decided I like Alpine over Palisades. More mellow vibe, less of that frantic/agro energy, terrain is more accessible (ie no funi ride to mid mountain followed by another chair to hit other things).
Biggest knock is the big flat zone at the bottom of treeline cirque to get to the park and back to the lifts. Otherwise, I really dig the flow of the mountain there over Palisade.

Re: Tahoe
I’m an OV guy, I just like the terrain better and know that side of the hill better. Flow is definitely an issue but the individual zones are sick.
But vibes are definitely way better at Alpine. OV the a weird energy of colliding crowds of aggro dirtbags and bougie kooks.

Keeping this in mind. Will be there for the first time over President's Day weekend which I'm sure will be a shitshow.kimchi wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 9:50 pm I’m an OV guy, I just like the terrain better and know that side of the hill better. Re: Tahoe
I've come around on Alpine in the past few years, it definitely has a bit more of that old school Tahoe vibe, but I've grown up riding on the Squaw side and will choose that everyday if it's my decision. I know that terrain like the back of my hand, know when/where to typically avoid crowds, and the apres scene is significantly better lol
