What would be the main difference(s) between the Transmission, and the TF iyo @Spenser ?

I could dig through the thread, but what was the consensus on flex difference in the new reduced taper shape? I don't want something softer than this.
I love the fish, it's still one of my main boards those days and I was just looking for an alternative, from what you said looks like that the TF will be a good choice, I really would like to try it one day or another....actually even on that side of the Italian alps the number of Koruas on the slopes are really growing ( actually there's a comeback, a general growing number of people on snowboard in the spots I usually ride) but never seen someone riding one the way it should so never really care about korua, bit your review make me think about it.🙂

Very different ride. TM is notably stiffer, a bit lengthwise & a lot torsionally. Spec-wise the 59 has just a bit more edge than TF 57 (124 vs 120), but it's true camber, so definitely more edge in snow at all times, on top of the extra 4cm. Slightly larger sidecut, more aggressive sidecut design, more aggressive & reactive core.. just more aggressive and demanding. Not slashy, not playful. I feel the width on the TM, too. Partly due to how stiff it is, and the full edge always being in snow - but also minimal taper, so the rear foot is wider.

As far as float & soft snow performance, totally different worlds

Probably would have hated the TM 59 in the conditions I've been riding the TF

Outside of smooth/fresh groomers, the TM 59 is like an angry orbit, in my experience so far. On good groomers, it's still a precision weapon for a rider who is good enough on edge. That's where it works for me, but I feel limited to that. It's a step up from the orbit. More of a "size down" board, IMO. I bet I'd like the 54.

Putting the TF flex and profile on the TM shape would probably be a fun board

For other comparison, if looking at the transmission vs cheater, most would probably think the cheater is even more aggressive and demanding. While it is fairly stiff (other than toward the nose contact), and has a lot more edge (19cm), it's the more friendly board due to all the design nuances. The contrast has shown me even more how well Mats understands carving design. I would also rather ride the cheater in soft snow, actually. A shorter cheater with the same width would be really fun for a lot of the people who like normal-length carving boards.

Solid feedback, thanks dude 👊🏻. Orbit is the stiffest I'd ever go and at this point highly unlikely I would grab anything in that range again, with where my preference is now. Like @eleveneightnate , I'm veering more towards more livelier, energetic decks that can still be reliable for turning, with solid pop ideally. The 6.5 - 7 flex range at most, essentially.

Sidenote, like mentioned earlier, I also knew you'd like the Koruas esp with where your taste has developed to with certain boards/temperaments. Curious to see what you think of the Pencil, still the one I like most in their line.

I'm not trying to go mellower, but I did miss having a board with this fun/slashy temperament, that still has the stability I "need." TF was the one other board I was considering when I ended up going for the orbit a few years ago.

Don't think I need to wonder if I'll like the pencil, given it's effectively the same board with different tips, but I think it would hit the sweet spot in pow. Not going to worry about it this season, but may pick one up for next.

Had my first day out on the new café racer plus yesterday. I've been riding my Otto 57 all season so far waiting for coverage to improve.

I rode a regular cafe racer 59 last season and was trying to remember what that felt like in comparison. The CR+ felt more reactive and had better edge hold than the regular CR in icy conditions. Dampness felt about the same overall, although more time on the board riding different terrain could change how I feel about that aspect. In comparison to the Otto the CR+ felt a good bit stiffer and required higher speeds to get it to turn as tightly. The main difference is the amount of taper which requires more fore/aft pressure shifting. It's definitely a workout to ride but in a good way. I think they complement each other well.

I think I'll try something out from Stranda or US for my next board. Still want a party board for messing around at slow speeds so have been eyeing the Biru although it may be too stiff for what I'm looking for. Image
