I'm sure the plus version is great but I don't think it would work that all that great here in the east either, considering that most days are hard and chunky. The standard Koruas are plenty damp and manage that shit perfectly without feeling lifeless.

I‘ve ridden both TF standard and Plus in 157. Also had a Stealth 163 which was built on the TF mold. Much preferred standard construction.
I only rode TF Standard one day in deep pow but rode Stealth in various conditions. Rode TF Plus maybe 3 days. The Plus was WAY lighter but the only time I benefitted was on the chairlift. On-slope I got bounced around a lot more and felt like I didn’t have the heft to hold a line quite as well. Felt softer to me although again I only rode TF Standard in pow.
I’m 210 lbs though, so 157 is pretty small for me (wide waist and all). I’m curious how I’d feel about the Otto Plus 161, bigger and Todd Richards make it sound like it’s not your typical carbon board.

Yes, I did. Much more playful and a bit softer. Not a bad deck, but not what I'm after these days for resort riding. If it was just the Escalator Split, it would have been perfect for a split.

Day two on the TF, same conditions, but a bit more wet. Simply put, I don't want to give it back. I love this thing. Going to figure out what I might want, and then I think I'm going to put the transmission up for sale, even without getting to give it a fair shake in the conditions it wants. I will ride a korua significantly more.
It's really bringing out my playful side, and again, it reminds me of when I rode the fish a lot. Was riding with Rainery today, and he kept saying how fun it looked.
I could easily see having a TF 57 and pencil 64. Same foundation, but one for a DD, and the other for pow days, as I do like a bit more overall length there.
I could dig through the thread, but what was the consensus on flex difference in the new reduced taper shape? I don't want something softer than this.

I borrowed unsuspected’s TF for a couple of hours and had a blast on it. It was the old version with more taper. I’d really like to try the new model.
I have a Pencil plus I hardly use any more and that I should sell. It’s just hard parting from it.

My buddy has the OG and new TF54 and finds the flex to be the same.

the TF is fun on pow days, but i feel the same way about having more length as well. i'm sure a 160 would be an absolute beast though

I’m surprised @Spenser likes the TF 157 as much as he does. Thought he’d think it’s too soft based on his love of the Orbit.

The orbit has a more aggressive temperament & is torsionally stiffer, and I guess is a bit stiffer tip to tail, but I don't think by all that much. I mostly only notice the less-stiff TF nose - and mostly only when I did a stationary nose press, or a couple tripods. I can definitely feel the less stiff torsional flex of the TF in comparison when standing there twisting my feet, but when riding, I don't notice. It just becomes part of the way the board rides as a whole, and I think it makes sense with the increased width.
The TF still has power and stability, but is for sure more approachable to the average rider. The orbit design just likes an aggressive approach. It will be interesting to go back to it.
I went the wrong way with the transmission 59, hah.
