Think I'm going to grab a set of Drive Pros while I can. No upgrades next year, looks like they're only providing one set of bushings (24s come with hard + medium, 25s only hard), and that YES + Lobster aesthetic is... yeesh.

Nice that they collapsed the Drive back down into one binding though. Drive + Drive Pro + Drive CX with 3 completely different models was an odd choice.

I went in on extra sets of Drives when they were on sale last season. Then dropped about $500 on Burton sliders, ladders and straps, should be set for 10 years. 😆

I've always rooted for YES, but I'm having a hard time understanding why anyone at Nidecker thought this gongshow of a rebrand was a good idea.
I hope I eat my words and it all works out for everyone involved.

I'm okay with Jones, despite what could be said about certain things. I think they should leave the bindings to now, though. And drop the outerwear. Still can't wrap my head around how your approach to being eco-friendly in a world of toxic outerwear is to make more toxic outerwear.

Really, I just want TBT to go away. In my head I picture it like the scene in the original Thing where they take a flamethrower to the alien after it takes over one of the dogs.

Having worked in the industry I'm gonna bet a swift kick in the balls it was about two things, redundancy and existing accounts.

All those shops that only carried Yes, will now be carrying Yes/NOW/Lobster, or at least be dealers and reps can pressure them to bring in more SKUs.

Then boards that the two companies they were making that were extremely similar are now blended. I have a feeling that Yes and Lobster were really moving that many units and this will help boost those numbers.

I'm sure the people at Nidecker group were looking Jones numbers and asking why the fuck Yes wasn't pushing the same amount of units. So they decided to do this to better round out the brand. Board, bindings and a broader range of boards.

I have no doubt it's about the redundancies, hardgoods ovrerlap and existing accounts, it's just happening so abruptly and it feels like Nidecker's like, "well, get on board with this or get fucked." Just feels like it could've been done more gradually, but what do I know. I hope everyone's getting paid their fair share.
