Special Blend, Dub, Cappell.....iirc all from the same distributor ... Those brands were tops and had the best riders...C.Fuzzy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 5:22 pmYah yeah. The authenticity of the 90s inspired gear is pretty fucking good. The Beyond Metals stuff, Souvenir(9?) and some of the Volcom stuff nailed the weird super nylon-y feel of that shit, the weird short but wide fits, lack of tech features, short arms heavy stitching, cheap without being cheap of kind feel.C.Fuzzy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 9:17 am Ok. Fair.
A airbrush-ish box cutter with a strawberry , lame white flames on black, sparse glowing electric arcs or lighting, some triangle with gradients, a skull, some white sparkles on black, some white logo on black, a weird cow on orange... and the rest are nondescript.
It looks like they told AI to make them "unironic mullet energy drink skoal teeth x generic 90s big box brand graphics for snowboards".
Is this the new cool? Have I been relegated to the out of touch dustbin of old age? Lets all embrace the enshittification of the simulation as it becomes a feedback loop of itself and begins to spit out gibberish.
I haven't seen the stuff you're talking about and I'll credit where credit is due. There's plenty of cool to throwback to ...like Sessions, Rusty, Ton, Twist, Special Blend, B, Ride, or whatever whatever. Bring back the fat short pants and chain wallets. Cool. I'm down.
But if the 90's throwback (if that's what Ride is doing) is to mimic the worst of the generic styles in an attempt to be ironically bad, well, cool but that was poser shit back then and I can't get down.

Anyone have any more details on the family tree high fidelity or the alekesam? They look fun

I feel like all I’ve seen make a comeback are the worst parts of the 90s.coleslawed wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 12:09 pmthe youth are actually the one's pushing that narrative as much as gen x these days.Ancahlagon wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 8:45 am It's not our fault if snowboarding peaked in the late 00's. The kids just don't know...

I remember the plastic zippers on the Dub stuff. I had a zipper blow apart on me on a day at Bear Valley where it was snowing so hard it filled the knees deep tracks in on the ride up. basically just tried to tape and hold it together all day.spanyard wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2024 11:13 amSpecial Blend, Dub, Cappell.....iirc all from the same distributor ... Glad I got this years BNKD CTRY. Thought we'd seen the back of the ol' vowel denialism as graphics trend.
