Holy fuck that's expensive. I can get a 340 g bar direct from Hertel for $25 USD (~23€ at today's exchange rate). That's ~6x as expensive per gram.Blessed420 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 9:56 pm how much is it in the states?

Looks like Hertel.eu and Amazon ships to Europe. Been reading up some on it. Seems Hertel would be a good base cleaning wax because of some detergent additives (?), and they use a different, maybe cheaper fluor source, so it’s cheaper all round? Dunno if that’s «low enough» fluor or if that’s all out the window now.
I bough some blocks a few years ago, so I’m good on the wax bit at least.

usually i only use swix or something like that, its usually 15€ for 180g.
Re: The Wax and Tune Ya Goon Thread
There are no detergent additives in Hertel. It's surfactants which is different. Don't waste it cleaning your base. By «cleaning» it’s really just a new layer of wax:p Don’t see that as a waste, and surfactants seem to be the main ingredient in detergents. Is the replacement for fluor secret stuff? Hertel seems to work for very wet snow, graphite for allround anything, but I probably have fluor in the blocks that will last me forever.Supra wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2023 6:25 pmThere are no detergent additives in Hertel. My idea is to do tests with natural waxes and others without fluoride to see how they work for me. Many people say that natural waxes don't work well... but I want to try it
Thanks @pow_hnd I'm thinking not now but I'll probably let you know later and you could send me different American waxes so I can try them.
In Europe on Amazon Hertel 340gr is €70… and Wend and others are not available…
On the other hand, I believe that the issue of fluoride or additives perhaps is like food and other things, that marketing focuses on explaining to you what it eliminates so that you believe it is better, but it does not really tell you what it is using to compensate that product that you have eliminated and, which is sometimes worse

Probably some combo of:
- Ryan’s really good at his job.
- Snowboarders good at his job are rare (similar to how finding snowboard boot fitters is impossible), so he’s the comp rider go-to.
- Ryan’s very good at relationship building + good at his job, and word of mouth spread.
I took a look at their website, their prices are pretty reasonable. Maybe 15-20% more than what I’m used to paying ($120 for a full tune with a stone grind). Main differentiator is they’ll have add-on for hot box wax sessions which I’ve never seen at a Tahoe shop other than ski race shops.
