I, too, feel the difference with scr variances. My preference is def anything within the 8-8.5m scr range, esp for turning (doing longer/relatively drawn out turns) and my overall riding, in general. Mainly ride hard packed groomers for majority of the season, so feels more evident in those conditions. And I'm pretty particular with things within my own setup, so that likely factors in also.

Ditto. Except I ride almost exclusively deep pow, and even there, I'm finding myself reaching for 8.4 and up… and going for longer and longer boards.

Love the board but as I mentioned to Spencer a bit back, the nose turned out softer than I had hoped. Not floppy by any means, but it damn near bucked me over the handlebars the first time out. Spencer, saw you mentioned you moved stance forward to compensate… will need to try that.

I should touch base with Mats about sending mine back soon, but my nose is randomly softer. Lars assures me of that.

I admit though, the actual rocker nose (as opposed to early rise) is still debatable re: my staunch preferences. But it’s such a good board, and I want to have it...

I think if he did a Cheater build/profile with the silhouette of a Shorty, that would be a dream. There is a new board in the works, though... maybe! Cool name that makes me think of a retro tour bus, instilling the idea of length, stability, and steadfastness all-around.

I promised vids. I use a GoPro Max 360 mounted on my helmet, so you can often see the nose of the board and how it is behaving in the conditions too (aside from the scenery…)

p.s.: So apparently my ADHD makes me a speed freak, so I end up always going way faster than my legs can actually handle… so I end up doing too much speed control by slipping. Terrible. I will be working on this this season. Mainly lots of weight-loaded squats these days.

well, all kinds of jealous now. the vents on your helmet and the gopro angle kinda give you a bobble headed alien effect, which is fun.

Part of it is if you’re used to full camber (or close), the rocker nose is already bent like a flexed camber nose, so the resistance doesn’t start until later, if that makes sense. If it were full camber or just early rise near the contact point, I don’t think it would come across as soft. I haven’t ridden anything but stiffer cambers or light early rises for years, so that’s part of it. But I do think mine is a little off for whatever reason.

Handflex videos don’t tell you how it rides, but you can draw general comparisons, and both Lars & Mats agree mine is definitely visibly softer than it should be. They had me compare to the cheater, and Lars did the same - much less of a difference on Lars’ end, he thought they were actually fairly comparable in flex.

To some people this might throw them off. To me, it’s the reality of producing any product... the fact that the company - in this case the individual - cares and is communicative, actively wanting to figure out out, is perhaps better than “everything is always perfect and I’ve never had to fix anything.” Mats is great. Again, many parallels with Fullbag, in that they are stellar boards, real humans, decades of experience, and they care about their clients. I think “client” is an appropriate word to describe the purchaser of products like these.

That said, it’s still super fun. I just feel like I ride it slightly apprehensively regarding the nose, especially busting through stuff. Some of it is mental. The cool thing, at least, is it doesn’t give me a “folding” feeling like I’d expect, and have experienced with others. It may even be a testament to the materials and calm nature of his boards. There were even ways in which I found some fun benefits to it. Nonetheless, I do much prefer beefy hammerhead noses.

Haha, I couldn’t handle that! I’m good enough just doing my little edits, and even that feels like a lot at times. But if you think about it, EL is where all that stuff happens for all of us together, which is neat.

I can definitely feel the difference in the sidecut radius, with the radial ones it’s instant. The multiple ones take longer to evaluate it. Short sidecut radii are too limiting imo.

Regarding the board flex in the nose - in general I am a full camber stiff nose only guy but lately I also like some boards with a gradual rocker in the softer nose but the flex up to the contact point there should still be on the stiffer side, a softer part in the very last section that doesn’t touch the snow when on the edge can be actually beneficial if you hit moguls.
