In 2020 when I picked my Cyclic jacket on Burton site there was info about the fabric and there was difference in the materials used. Based on that in the local shop when touched it was obvious some color options were way more durable but heavy. So my choice was more durable for tree riding, but If I had to choose for groomers I would go lighter. I see they still put the material in the spec sheet in the online shop.

Burton arbitrarily changes marketing copy standards year. Some years they list face fabric weight, others they don’t. They didn’t in 2023, they did in 2024, I know they did on any last set of Freebirds (~2019?)

I've really been feeling a pull to buy new outerwear, when I don't need it at all. Must be that preseason foaming at the mouth effect.

Just went with my trusty volcom L pants, in dark teak. Haven't worn a different model in years. So now I've had… 4 shades of brown. Also black, military, and I want the new light military.

Variety, you know.

When/if they come up on a good sale, I'd love the new military guide jacket. Also like the khakiest longo.

I kinda liked the old Burton woodland collection, nothing like that exists at all today, would be cool to wear something not techy, though I did find these from a company called Alps & Meters, I'd be interested but not at that price point

Anyone got a casual hoody they like for riding? Ideally comfy, not too tech looking, and low-key branding? Ideally weather resistant enough to hold up to light precip and wind.

I'm randomly fixated on this. I mostly rode in hoodies like that ~10 years ago. Granted those were historically dry drought years in the Sierra, but I feel like I could get away with it most days on hill, especially now that I rock bibs.

Rome, Beyond Medals, Burton, and 686 all have some contenders but nothing quite hits for me. The ones that look workable have some hideous branding or really boring colors.

The 686 waterproof one is the best I've found, though. It fits great, has thumb loops and a side zip, doesn't have ribbing at the bottom, is 10k waterproof, etc. Love mine. I know the logo's big, but they made most colorways kinda monochrome this season so it's not obnoxious or anything.

Yea the 686 one is on the list but JFC the logo is big. It blends with the semi monochrome but yeesh.

The 10k breathability also concerns me.

Edit: Alright so at least on breathability, that side vent looks like it dumps serious heat so I could probably get past that. But man the logo is so damn big lol.

the 686 one is definitely a winner for performance, but I'm with you on the giant logo. I've got a black Trollhaugen collab one, and its similar monochrom (black on black).

I did pick up the SHE fleece from Volcom, too, which I like cause it doubles as a mid layer better without the hood. looks like the new one added a chest pocket.

I'd prefer some weather resistance in case weather turns or I get caught on a lift. But yea basically anywhere west of Rockies I could probably ride in a cotton hoody and be fine unless stupid cold.
