Great info! I'm your brother's size, maybe 5 pounds heavier, and deciding between the 57 vs 60. I'm thinking 57 in the Pro since it's supposed to be stiffer, but leaning toward the 60 if I go with the regular version.peruna wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 8:26 pmI'd lean towards the Pro. At 5'8" 155 lbs I had the 154 back in 2018 or '19 and while I loved the shape I wanted more snap. Now that they make the pro I'm always thinking about picking one up. I would debate between the 154 and 157 Pro for myself, I don't feel it needs to be sized down like they recommend.eleveneightnate wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 3:12 pmMcK21 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 2:54 pm Depends on you for me super 8 it's just enough I need for my style of riding, triyng to lay down god turns, have fun in powder, a little bit of side hits, that's it, but I choose it just a little bit longer, just a little, usually for AM board I stay beetwen 56 and 58, I choose the super 8 160 and feels perfect for me.Great to hear. Yeah, I want something in that daily driver realm that can carve, pop, and still float if I get some pow on a trip. Sounds like the Super 8 is right there.

My brother is 5'11", 170 lbs give or take and he finds his 2019 157 on the softer side, but he still loves it. Very versatile board for him.

Re: Salomon Snowboards
The older twin Ultimate Ride has a scary pop from the edge and is the best true carving twin I’ve been on. The regular Assassin is simply a great playful all mountain freestyle board.
Re: Salomon Snowboards
I had the first year Super 8 and although I really liked it in and out of pow I found the nose to be a bit too soft. I'm 6' and 165lbs and was on the 157. To be fair it was the first board I owned that wasn't stiff and full camber so I guess I was used to putting my weight on the front of the board at the start of a turn and it didn't like it. Otherwise it's a great deck and the shape is so nice. I would go 160 and/or the pro version for sure.

Re: Salomon Snowboards
that's the board I'm picking for vacation. Easy to ride, great everywhere.eleveneightnate wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 2:40 pm I know we have some Super 8 guys here. Convince me (or not) that it would make a great 1-board quiver for vacation riding. I can get killer deals on either the regular or Pro models right now.
Definitely don't size down, check the size with the right width and sidecut and you should be fine.
I would go with the pro version.

Re: Salomon Snowboards
Sounds like the Pro might fix that issue! I'm leaning 160 in the Pro now. I saw that Dirksen rides it in 163 and he's smaller than me.Kevington wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2023 1:36 am I had the first year Super 8 and although I really liked it in and out of pow I found the nose to be a bit too soft. Re: Salomon Snowboards
FWIW I primarily ride K2 Instrument, which is a similar-ish deck-- tapered directional all-mountain freeride board marketed as a sorta short-fat to size down.
I didn't size down and am glad I didn't. I like having the full edge. If I was spinning more or ride firmer snow, I might have sized down for the narrower waist. But I preferred more edge and the more open sidecut.

What size Instrument are you on vs your "normal" twin resort board size?kimchi wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2023 9:45 am FWIW I primarily ride K2 Instrument, which is a similar-ish deck-- tapered directional all-mountain freeride board marketed as a sorta short-fat to size down.

I'm 6'. 210 lbs. I typically ride 162-164 for directional daily drivers and ride the Instrument in a 163.

Went for it. Hoping I got the right size, I just weighed myself and I’m at a healthy 180 these days so I’m thinking I’ll be alright haha.
