The Official quiver thread

My true active quiver is three, and I think that's perfect, but ultimately I gotta have five. Daily (freeride/carve/pow focused), long freeride/pow, long carver, rock board, split. The latter two are simply necessities, but love them.

for the all mountain deck, thats my primary resort board once the mountain is filled in. my mercury will need replacing soon and ive been considering an academy graduate, nitro alternator, lib tech jamie lynn / lib rig or gnu banked country.

Banked Country sounds like such a ripper and has been on my personal demo wish list. I rented Billy Goats on a couple trips, and only real complaint was I'm not a fan of mag. BC adds a bit of taper and "progressive mag" with no traction bumps in the front of the sidecut. Biggest reason I haven't owned a Mervin board in ~15 years, but the BC addresses that complaint.

most regular rotation last year was between:
United Shapes Horizon 159 for most days
Nitro Banker 159 for when I just wanted to go fast
Lib Tech Terrain Wrecker when I just wanted to feel loose

busted out the Hometown Hero 165w for a fresh pow day in Montana, and the Annex 162 for leftovers.

Public Display 156 for pre & post season playtime.

My friend has the 62, and personally I was surprised how not stiff it felt to me. Didn't ride it though. And granted, the orbit is my baseline, so...

Added a Banked Country 60w to the quiver. Haven’t been on a Mervin in a very long time, but I’m stoked to switch things up a bit.

I had a 3 board quiver until 10 months ago. It's ballooned up to 6...and I'd like for it to go back to 3-4!

Daily All-mtn / Park: B Process—need to replace, am considering B. Free Thinker since I can't seem to find 22/23 Indoor Survival.

I really have too many pow boards. But dammit, I love all the shapes and vibes they bring.

I'm a huge fan of the Banked Country. I picked up the first year's version and then sold that to get last years model, rationalizing the purchase because they added carbon to the layup (fuck if I can tell the difference if I'm being honest). I like it so much that I bought the split board version too.

I gave up on Mervin years ago because full Mag drives me batty, but Pro Mag is legit. It addes the super grip of Mag, but it only kicks in hard once you're fully on the rail, so you get the benefit of super grip through the end of the turn without the typical catchy mag weirdness. With a decent tune I defy anyone to break the tail loose, even on our East Coast "snow". I talked to a bunch of GNU guys about Pro-Mag last year, suggesting that they should put it on every Mervin model. They said that that opinion is pretty common among the people that work for Mervin, but that the Cummins boys have some kind of ownership of the concept or patent or whatever. In fact they said that Cannon is the person that dreamed up the idea to begin with.

Gnu did change the shape of the Banked Country slightly for this year, the first two years it had a spaded tail for a smidge better sink in powder, but the new tail shape is blunted, supposedly to make it more switch friendly.

Glowing endorsement. If they made a split version in a 165-ish, I'd own one. As it is I may at some point break down and get a 162.

I'd be MUCH more open to Mervin boards if they ditched mag and the fanatical devotion to center rocker.

Luckily a lot of the C3 boards you'd actually be interested in are virtually just camber. Personally I don't think any of my C3s have had an actual dip in the middle... probably owned over 10, handled many. Some are flat between the feet, others just look like camber to me.

I like the new tail a lot. The thing is basically a mullair again, which was such a great board.

For some reason I think cannon's hand-drawn-looking graphic is cool.

the Jamie boards are all straight camber, no mag, even if marketed as C3.
