Did the house reverse course? I don’t see language of them closing on the website anymore - instead their homepage says “we’re looking forward to next season already”

Perhaps it was all a exercise in shock doctrine for a company to change the culture and lighten the administrative load in one quick move. Much like what happened at Twitter. A slow change has too any internal forces to overcome and is too expensive and people resist change and create obstacles. Interesting on a few angles...
Although dealer agreements could have changed, there are at least two brands I used to do business with, whom at the time, the dealer agreements would have been broken by the way, timing and levels of discounting The House did... And I have a strong suspicion that is why a few brands weren't initially discounted, as to avoid potential litigation and or termination of being a dealer in the future... but then they were discounted...
Then there are FTC rules, that if you announce you're going out of business and say you are liquidating.... Then don't shut down... You've broken some FTC rules. Does the FTC care about The House? Probably not, but the rules were put in place for a good reason, as to not to entice people to spend money they had not originally intended on spending and as an illegal form of business competition.
There was abuse of the advertising practice with businesses that were "closing down and liquidating" every six months or so but somehow never actually went out of business and would just repeat the cycle...
So yeah, if you publicly announce that you're shutting down and you're liquidating, then you don't shut down, a business could be subject to some FTC fines depending on what really happened... If a supplier or competitor was to complain to the FTC.

i posted more thought in the deals thread, too, but i think since they never made a public announcement about “The House” closing, and have used “Liquidation Sale” as a marketing term previously, they’ll probably get a pass.
technically, Camping World closed Active Sports Inc, which was doing business as The House, but I guess they were able to transfer that name to just be under Camping World’s umbrella directly, same with the in-house brands Chamonix, Framed, EVOL, and Ctrl.
I’m guessing that’s how they’ll get around any vendor contract language and FTC rules, ASI was the business with those contracts, not CW.

yes, they reported it to the necessary government authorities to close a business and lay off 100 employees, but like I said, the business that was closed was Active Sports Inc, not The House, which was a subsidiary/DBA for ASI. there was never a public statement done by Camping World or Active Sports. that’s all I was saying.
trust me, I would love to see CW get caught in (another) lawsuit for being shitty at taking over businesses. but I also know there’s a lot of behind the scenes moves that went on the last weeks of April to allow them to continue to operate The-House.com

Well, if they are able to keep it open, that’s great and glad you’re not losing your job.
I was just making an observation.
I am gonna assume though there might be some hard conversations to be had with suppliers after stuff was discounted so hard, like I said, things could have changed but I know for sure two vendors that had, in my time, super hard clauses in their dealer agreements that their products were on fire sale… lol
