I think the stock straps are fine, the ratchets are CRAP. The pin that holds them together is held in place by a little tinier pin. Just looked at my Burtons, that same pin is riveted in place.

Like @eleveneightnate said, if I could get Burton buckles on these, I'd just keep them. But I've had to replace something like 4 toe buckles and 2 ankle buckles over the past 5 years, most recently last week. The sad part is NOW's buckles have gotten substantially better in those 5 years.

I am wrecking ball human that's ESPECIALLY likely to fuck shit up (I've twice straight up shattered baseplates), so maybe not relevant to you. But I've fucked up too many NOW buckles to fully trust them.

If you go Burton, get a size smaller than normal. If you're on mediums, get smalls. Burton baseplates sit lower than NOWs, so their straps are a bit longer.

*Edit: And if I do replace them with B straps, do I get a size smaller than my Mercury mediums?
Depends on what size binding, size foot and brand of boot you have…

Some people are just fine with the Jones straps.

I just prefer Burton and especially double take.

IMO, Burton is still head and shoulders above everyone else in the strap, ratchet and ladder game.

Supergrip 2.0 toe straps are just worlds better than anything else I’ve tried, and Burton Hammock straps just conform to your boots so well and the plastic is just the right stiffness.

I have the Mercury straps on my Select Pros. They're actually pretty nice and I like that you can flip them for different response. It's the buckles that suck.
That was my line. I put B ratchet and ladders but I left jones straps because I love surf mode. Next year I'll do a test with my B hammock straps but surf mode is great for me

@jota How did you modify the strap to get Burton ratchets on there? That would be the ideal solution. I don't mind the straps, I just really don't trust those ratchets at this point.

Of course, the sizes are practically identical. I just had to open the entrance to the strap a little with a cutter. you have to do it carefully so that it remains strong.

the double take ankle strap ratchet are fixed. I did’t want to use these

1rst photo jones strap. it really stays strong and well attached

Did you used a hot knife (or something) to cauterize that plastic as you trimmed it out to try and avoid a weak spot turning into a split? Added bonus of inhaling deeply the delicious fumes for a free buzz.

nooo 😂😂😂 but I used a professional cutter. I had to cut like a surgeon and go very slowly to round the corners and not open cuts

If you don't ser me in EL next year, you already know what the accident was 😂😂🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
The important thing for me was to "remove", and not "cut"... even so, the solidity is given by the screw and this part helps
