Re: The 2022 boot thread
Even then I'd reckon most people just... don't fit their shoes properly. Definitely more leeway and preference in everyday kicks than snowboard boots, but strong suspicion a fuck ton of foot problems out there are due to most people not fitting shoes properly. Like I said, I'm only a ~10.5 wore like... 12.5s until I was 19 because I have wide honking feet and no one ever sat me down and taught me proper footwear sizing. I didn't know better. Frankly no one explains that shit to to you growing up, kids wear too big shoes forever because their feet are growing, and then that feeling gets normalized in adulthood. I became waaaaay more conscientious of footwear after I started snowboarding, and am way more particular about what shoes I buy nowadays. I don't just grab a pair of kicks because they look cool or because they're on sale.Spenser wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 2:17 am Boot size "number" may vary for sure, but the point is there's one specific fit for your foot - you're deciding based on proper fit, rather than preference as with a shoe. The number might be 10 or 10.5 depending on brand, but they are both fitted based on actual foot size.
Mentally I view ill fitting footwear like the processed food-heavy western diet... you can survive on a suboptimal diet of fast food instead of whole food and veggies, but it'll cause subtle or not-so-subtle long-term complication after years and decades, especially on a population-wide basis.
Re: The 2022 boot thread
Disagree - those are fit and lasting issues, not sizing issues. The point is that Spenser and I are making is not that there is one boot size at which all boots will fit your feet (that is obviously not true - because of different foot shapes, widths, insteps, Greek vs. Egyptian feet, etc.), but rather that if you deviate from your actual foot size a boot basically cannot fit properly (and no lasting, shape, etc. can compensate for that).kimchi wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 2:04 amToo many dimensions at play to simply to"boot size is your foot size". Even if you get an EXACT measurement of length, width, and instep volume down to the miliimeter, a bunch of other factors play a part like foot curvature, toe shape, silhouette, etc. That's even before you get to the complicated stuff like arch support or the niche stuff no one thinks about like shin and calf fit. I'm a mega fucking nerd and wrote up about them here. And even there I'm oversimplifying for the sake of "brevity".sunokeru wrote: ↑Sun Mar 12, 2023 8:31 pm ^^^ That! To put it shorter: Your boot size is your foot size. Shoe size can be vary different and is not a useful guide for snowboard boot size (other than as a cap), both because people have different preferences for shoe fit and because size scales can differ considerably between shoe brands and models (especially if not using Mondo sizing).
That plus boot sizing differs brand to brand, and even model to model within a brand. I measure out about 10 ¼ US, with a EEE width on a Brannock. Strictly on length, I'm a 10 in Adidas and Ride; between a 10 and 10.5 on K2; a 10.5 in Nitro, DC, and Burton (but I can fit into a 10 on some softer Burton boots); traditionally 11 on Vans (but maybe now a 10.5 in the new last); and I was a 28.5 (10.5) on Salomon 15 years ago but who knows today.

Re: The 2022 boot thread
ok, what size?
Last time I was at Decathlon I did grab the last pair in L , they have only the M in that shop now, if you need L I will check if they can send me some , if they still have it...how many pairs?
Hope you don't need it quickly because I'm pretty busy this week, I see what I can do.
Anyways I'm working on to make a 3D model of those( with some modifications of course) so then I can print it with some carbon to and see what happens then.
