Re: The 2022 boot thread
I had 3 pairs of the TTs over the years and they get better with every iteration. They are fucking soft though, fun for carving around but if you’re doing an all day sesh or riding through chop, they beat up your ankles a bit. K2 should dumb it down and make a version for jib kids. They are sneaker-soft.
Re: The 2022 boot thread
I run moderate to high forward lean and don't have major issues. The lack of lean makes getting into bindings a little bit more of a pain in the ass because I need to be conscientious about flexing the ankle to settle into the base tray... but once I'm settled in, I'm good. I usually strap up standing, ride a little bit, pop a little mini ollie, then crank down a few more clicks of slack I settled out.Kevington wrote: Tue Feb 21, 2023 3:51 am One for the Adidas wearers: is the lack of any forward lean ever a problem? I'm thinking to try and make these Tacticals work but I like some forward lean on my rear highback. Do you remove some lean as the boot is already in contact with the highback or just jam it in there and use the ankle strap to pull it all together?
If you have something with some super aggressive lean and highback height (like the old Team Skyback era Cartels circa 2006), then you might run into problems. If you're someone coordinated enough to get into binding while moving (I've never successfully pulled this off), you might run into problems. But personally it's a very minor inconvenience. My issue is more than the shell durability of the later Adidas boots is kind of crap.
Re: The 2022 boot thread
Never had adidas, but ions don't have much built in lean either, and when brand new they do take a little "jam" to get all the way in the heelcup, but that's easy... at least, if you strap standing up. Once the boot settles in, it's pretty normal. I run med-high lean on my rear, and low-med up front.
I like a boot with less built in lean, so the broken-in state will become "normal" lean. If you start with more lean out of the box, the broken-in boot ends up a little more angled, resulting in needing to be flexed more in order to get the same toeside response as a boot that starts fairly upright.... if that made any sense.
Transcends have more lean out of the box. Not excessive nor an issue, but if they were a little more upright, the response might be slightly increased after they break in.
That said, now that we're well into the season, they've definitely been a good boot for me. Flex still hasn't changed after the first few days of break in, and they don't seem to be wearing anywhere, just a couple little black marks from ankle straps. Tongue stiffeners behind the tongue have been working really well, and I'm still happily going along with these new boas... quick tightening without having to pull up my pants has been nice, compared to speedzone, not that it's hard or annoying with SZ. Couple things I like more about the ion (less built in lean, slightly shorter footprint, slightly stiffer) but overall these are a better fit and would (may) likely get another pair.

Re: The 2022 boot thread
my Areth Rins are satisfying me as an essentially lace up version, maybe a touch stiffer? they’ve def softened up a ton, though.michaelangelo wrote: Tue Feb 21, 2023 9:25 am I had 3 pairs of the TTs over the years and they get better with every iteration. I tried them on side by side with my go-to Hi-Standard Pro and they felt just a touch softer, but I just picked up that same pair a year later and my Vans feel like tanks compared to the Deeluxe’s stiffness wise. took some adjusting.
and agreed on the choppy front. Cans are coming with to Montana, Deeluxe will stay the loose midwest vibe boot.

Are there fake Tactical ADVs out there? Seller on Goat accepted what I thought was a lowball bid of $150 on the White Digital Blue pair. I know Goat has an authentication team but they're not always right
Re: The 2022 boot thread
I can't imagine anyone would fake snowboard boots. Nike and Adidas fucked off in the first place because the market's too niche and too small to be worth their time and effort.
If GOAT has any sort of buyer protection I'm sure you're fine. MAYBE some enterprising counterfeiter matches the shell, but one glance at the liner should tell you whether you're dealing with a genuine article.

Re: The 2022 boot thread
Sierra had a full size run for months at $200, other sites like 6pm had lexicons for $239 for a minute too.
Re: The 2022 boot thread
REI had them for $190 last fall, I bought two pairs — didn't need to because I already owned 4 but the price was too good to pass on

Adidas orphans fyi: Vans Infuse feels like it might work. Definitely a wider fit than last time I tried them about 5 years ago. I do have to go from an Adidas 10 to a Vans 10.5 to 11… the 11 felt borderline lengthwise and a little too much volume in the forefoot. I might be able to get away with a 10.5, but shop didn’t have a set in stock.
Nitro Team also felt workable in a 10.5, but too much volume in the tongue. Might be able to make it work with some boot fitting padding.
