The Genesis straps are what I would keep, softer but somehow more supportive where the Cartel straps are typically stiffer due to that single strap on the hammock. The double take buckles can be less reliable though (sometimes they ice up)

This is spot on, I used to mainly be all Genies & GenX straps but hated the icing that happened on the double takes. Esp riding in Ontario, the conditions make it more frequent (icing/stuck in the ratchet) and made it quite annoying after number of seasons. I stick with the stock CartelX straps now, even if they're the least comfy of all B straps. The Infuses help make the relative discomfort less noticeable, and I enjoy the increased response vs the Genies/GenX strap.
And the CartelX strap still feels more comf than any recent Union/Now/Jones binding strap I've ridden in the last 5-7 winters or so, so there's that also fwiw lol.

I wondered to myself, watching the Tribute Boardshop youtube on binding placements recently… whether one's weight and force are truly centered between tippy-toes and heel… Probably more like ball of fore-foot.
But then yeah overhang wants to be equalized if not eliminated so it's moot. Maybe.

As far as straps, that I put on my NOWs, I just order whatever Burton has on their site that is double take and go with that. Only thing that I do specifically do is to down size one size on my NOWs. So Sm Burton straps on Med NOWs for the ankle, and toes I keep the same.
Bummer. I have medium vitas and size 8/8.5 boots. I'm going to guess that those straps are gonna be too big for medium drives, huh?

Possibly... I think I have some extra smalls laying around

I'm using flux straps, but tried my medium hammocks on drives. With size 9 boots, they work, but there's a reason people like @pow_hnd like smalls for sure. The slider/ladder mounting positions are higher, so the strap distance is a little shorter than burton bindings. I bought one of my pairs from him that came with smalls, and it was a good fit

Anyone ridden or at least checked at in a shop the jones power spine ankle straps?
I have them on Mercury. They're fine. Wouldn't say I like them and I prefer Burton Hammocks better, but the they're sufficient enough that I don't notice any major limitations nor feel compelled to replace them as on my old NOWs (2017 Pilot and 2019 Drive).
FWIW Power Spine (and better toe strap) is the main reason I went for the Mercury over getting another set of Drives.
I also chose the Mercury over a Now in hopes of better straps. The ankle strap caused a slight pressure point on my Salomon Lo-Fi in freeride mode. It went away after I flipped the straps to surf mode. The 2023 toe straps slipped out of positions sometimes on my rear foot, but the funny thing is that I could still ride fine with the toe strap out of place.
The Jones straps were ok but I still prefer my Burton hammock straps on my 2015 Genesis.

I bought them to put on my Select Pros. They’re pretty decent, comparable to the ankle straps on my Stratas. I keep them in “surf” mode and they kinda just disappear while I’m riding. Nice middle ground feel. You can actually remove the power spline thingy and make them even softer.
