The Official Korua Shapes Thread
Re: The Official Korua Shapes Thread
Well, as misleading as Korua’s titanium claims may be, the tech works. I couldn’t care less about what they call it.
a bit of taper, a lot of camber
Re: The Official Korua Shapes Thread
yeah noticed they used titanium in the product details.. who knows? its snowboard tech. like put some graphene particles in the base, and you have a DIAMOND INFUSED SINTERED ULTRA OVER 9000+ base. And retail reviewers eat it raw and drool over all that new tech. People trying to explain it is one of the few reasons to watch reviews, its fun how it can spiral out of control.

Re: The Official Korua Shapes Thread
So I step away from playing snowboards for a few years bc of health issues and you guys moved... Again???
Anyway, I finally caved and took a sip of the Kool Aid.
Gotta admit the ref stance location has me confused:
Are the insert packs centered over the sidecut? If so, the ref stance (54cm/21.25'') is forward w/r of the sidecut??? Or is the ref stance centered on the sidecut (as I expect it to be) and the insert packs set back of that? I've always been used to seeing insert packs evenly spaced on either side of reference.
I even took out my measuring tape to make sure it wasn't because the insert packs were drilled too close or too far apart... (That checked out ok, I get the correct 48-60cm stance range.)

Pretty sure my otto 61 is the same. To get the ref stance I was one set forward on the front foot and the "normal" ref stance position in the back. The alternatives did not look or feel right.

Re: The Official Korua Shapes Thread
I reached out to Korua and this was their reply:
'…boards come with 89° lateral and 0,5 bevel baseside.
Regarding recommended stance we propose to use the insert the cross is pointing to, the second and 4th from each pack. Thats the position with the announced setback.
But you can play. If you want more float, edgehold and stability move towards tail. If you want more agility move towards nose.'
I assume that means setback in relation to the sidecut, which now makes sense bc moving the ref stance forward to the top inserts (i.e. + 20mm) would then be centered on sidecut and as far forward as you could go on the board.
I hadn't thought of that because aside from a Fishcuit, all my boards were either true twins or directional twins (ref stance centered over sidecut with a longer nose than tail).

Re: The Official Korua Shapes Thread
Got the bindings on my Noserider almost centered now, and I love that thing for riding heavy crusty snow. The stable planky nose is like an icebreaker on edge, and I just sit back and cruise, while some other boards flail around. It’s not what I bought it for, but that’s my goto use for it now.

Noticed they changed the shape of the Noserider. The first one had a nose similar to the Uberegg, the new Noserider looks narrower and rounder in the front, and more effective edge, and some notches in the channel.
