The Official Vans thread

Post by Lotechpeter »

In the last iteration of EL there was some good discussion about the Vans boot models that had a newer fit that I believe wasn't as narrow and fit more people without sizing up. I don’t remember the details, what models have the newer fit?
I’ve previously discounted Vans as not fitting my foot well and thinking about trying some on when I get a chance. Any feedback to add about the Infuse, Taxwood or last years Baldface boots?

I always had great luck with the midrange models in the past (ran the Hi Standard Pro for several seasons), but the higher end ones had a narrower toes box, in my experience.

the new Infuse (‘22-) was slightly better than the previous iteration, which I found interesting as it seems to mimic the first year Staxwood fit and that one didn’t feel as nice. haven’t had a chance to try the Stax since that first year, though.

i’m interested to try on the new Hi Standard Pro cause it looks to have gotten the same fit treatment.

echoing what cole said - new infuse is great, toebox is a bit wider than previous generation in my opinion - the overall shell volume is a lot smaller too.
it does feel a bit softer too.

That’s what I’m looking for, wider toe box and reduced overall shell volume.

I talked with the guys at the local shop that carries Vans, they all ride Infuse and recommended them to me. I’ll try them when they get their order in.

Was the Baldface based on another model?

pretty sure the Baldface was another colorway of the Taxwood boot, maybe with leather vs rubber accents.

They’ve always been too narrow for my toes, but I’m gonna try on the new Iguchi ( splitboard ) boot this winter and see what it feels like. I would love for it to fit.

Vans 22/23 Catalog

Anyone have knowledge about the texturing on the toecaps for the infuse or verse? Seems intentional but what for?
