My old ions had those with some little flaps to secure them on the tongue. My new vans infuse have two removable shims per tongue - don't think they would work for other boots though.

Older 32 tm3 womens boots have those, two per boot but on the backstays not on the tongue.

Feels pretty weird to have them on the backside as the shoes are really stiff on the backstay but pretty soft tongue.

^ A lot of details were in my ramblings on the last page

Recap:

Came with Drivers & some Ions years ago, NLA, but great option if you can find them

Deeluxe has 3 stiffnesses, unsure how well they truly work, seems only available from Canada

Decathlon looks good, but no shipping out of country

Nitro has them with certain boots, unsure if able to acquire separately

I really think these would help a lot of people have a better boot experience depending on flex preference, and can greatly extend usable life of a boot - but again, not really in any boot co's best interest to offer such a cheap option to make boots last longer, perhaps why they are few & far between. At this point they are a prized possession of mine.

Took a look through my spare parts; sorry Spenser, no dice. I ended up giving my last couple pairs away when I stocked up on the liners I like. Those give me the support I liked from the stiffeners, without all the fumbling around getting them to stay in the right spot. I also mainly run double Boa these days, and those stiffeners don’t feel great between the shell and liner. If I come across any, I’ll send them your way.
a bit of taper, a lot of camber

But this morning, the over thinking brain of mine jumped on eBay and found a few more sets for sale and just ordered two more pairs.

So now I'll have 4 sets of T-Rice waiting in the wings. Should be set for about 20 years, seeing as I have dedicated splitboard boots now these days.
Hey man, like me, I know you were a diehard Trident guy for years. My current pair are starting to get a little long in the tooth, so I'm thinking I may replace them soon. How would you compare the Transcend/T-Rice to the Trident?

Thanks, I hope you're season is treating you well!

I found a pair cleaning out my things from my parent's basement. I have to make sure my step-pops hasn't donated them yet. They would be brand new from a pair of....10 year old ions? Lmk if you want.

No worries if they're gone, but if not I'd love them!

Doodes, DC's footprint is a fucking joke.

@coleslawed sold me a cheap-ass beater pair of ~2019 DC Judges for fucking around on the Rossignol Mini at home (thanks bud!). I don't think I've ever owned a DC boot and I haven't looked to closely at them in almost 15 years. They had a moon boot reputation then, and unless things have changed dramatically in the past 3-4 seasons, that's still true now.

They're a 10.5 USM. Sole-to-sole with set of circa 2014 or 2015 Burton Motos 11.5, a full size bigger and the cheapest boot Burton sells. Basically the same length, except with dramatically worse toe and heel taper.

Sole-to-sole with a size 10 Adidas Tactical Adv. The DC is higher volume and wider, but they fit about the same length-wise. Not even a contest in either outsize size or taper.

I can't believe these things sold for $300+. They're bulkier than Burton's cheapest boot in a full size smaller! If I worked at DC, I'd be embarrassed to have these on the same shelves as Burton and Ride boots lol. I'm glad I only paid $20 for them lol.

Also the flex rating on these things is silly. They're an "8/10" and well used, but they're softer than any of my "medium" Adidas Tacticals. Including the well-used set with like 60+ days on them. I'd need to buy the Transcend to have any chance that of DC boots fitting me.

PLUS they have way too much foam underfoot. Didn't snap a photo, but here's a stock photo of the bottom of the Transcend. I would be constantly worrying about tearing out chunks of foam if I was billygoating shit on these things.
Image Worryingly for an Adidas rider, the fit feels potentially workable. I'd have to some serious boot fitting work, but they're wide enough in the forefoot and I think I could make them work with some aggressive boot fitting otherwise. At a 10.5 I don't per se NEED a shall foot print, but yeesh.

My transcends are barely longer than an ion, and overall comparable volume. Really, it's that the toe/heel angles are more harsh, but I shaved them down. Measuring about 4mm difference.

They felt like an 8 out of the box & first day or so, but I've been using stiffeners since initial break in - whereas I go almost a half season with ions before I use them. So, flex rating of 8 is high. I may still consider trying a pair of the t-rice, but I'd be down for another pair of these if the current support holds up. I have no concerns about the foam, but I'd prefer full rubber. First time with boa has been all good, so far.
