Expensive Divorce - The Split Thread
Re: Expensive Divorce - The Split Thread
I bent a set of ultras too easily. Personally, I liked their previous clip, with adjustment - ran those for a long time.

Is it just me, or does anybody else find the asymmetrical ski tip of your split board in tour mode very aesthetically unpleasing? It started to really bug me about 5 years ago. I would just get annoyed at the pointy tip on the outside edge of each ski. In some trail breaking conditions the snow keeps coming over the inside radius of the ski tip and building up on the top sheet, annoying me even more.
I decided I was gonna get a split with the most symmetrical tip shape in tour mode I could find. Don’t like Jones at all, though, so that was out. Chimera seemed like the no brainer. I put about ten days each on the Hermit and the Sceptre last season. I’m not gonna turn this into a review of those boards, but suffice to say I loved the look of that square tip out front in tour mode. The zones I ride in and the folks I ride with lead to some pretty significant split ski situations. I found I had way more confidence committing to split ski lines with that more symmetrical shape out front. Then I came upon Cardiff. I’m a big footed fella, and they make wide splits with square noses. I figured for sure I was gonna be on a Cardiff this season. But I dunno anybody who’s even held one, and the demo situation out here is non existent.
A deal I couldn’t say no to came along and now I’m sliding on a board that exaggerates the asymmetry even more. I mean I love that surf inspired shape when it’s married. But not loving the divorced look. I guess I should just look at the mountains instead of my ski tips, maybe?

After 5 years on Spark bindings I am about to make the jump to Karakorams. Has anybody got experience with both the Nomad and the Prime-X? Is the Prime-X worth the extra dough?
Re: Expensive Divorce - The Split Thread
Not sure on this one. I like the slightly rounded tips that you get with ie Plum, and more brands will be doing it in the future, but it’s not like I wanna look down and feel even more like a skier either. Don’t they have googles where you can watch Netflix by now, or just bring a companion to look at instead?Viceroy wrote: Mon Dec 19, 2022 12:31 pm Is it just me, or does anybody else find the asymmetrical ski tip of your split board in tour mode very aesthetically unpleasing? My new Escalator has the angled tips, which they feel helps with drag in the skin track. Can't say if I notice as of yet, but I sure do notice how much lighter this deck is over my TF split.

Re: Expensive Divorce - The Split Thread
Does anyone have any experience with Nitro Team split. I have liked most of the Nitro boards I have tried and I feel like the splits are really good value. I had a Squash split and now have Slash split as a second split for when I don't want to use my big mountain board. I would like to have a twinish split when riding in resorts (Alps) and not knowing if I am going to even need to skin up. Though Team might be too twin.
Re: Expensive Divorce - The Split Thread
My experience with the splits, like you said, is they're a good value. My squash 63 is still one of the best fit/finishes I've handled as a split.
Doppelgänger might be a good alternative if you want something more directional, but still very versatile.

Yes, Doppelgänger could also be an option. And of course I am not restricted to Nitro.
What I am mostly interested is if the shape and flex pattern are really the same as regular Team. Nose/tail shape is clearly different and the width is as well (at least for the 159).
Although I have not ridden the regular Team in powder, but Suprateam is actually pretty decent one.

And to be clear the reasons I am interested in the Team are it has a solid tail (twin, so to be expected), full camber so good for splitting in not so optimal conditions as well as riding in those conditions and of course price. I could get the board for less than 400 €.
It might be worth to just try it for that price

Okay. Even though the Nitro Team is interesting board I found a B-grade Amplid Milligram for 520€ and couldn't resist. Should be good
Anyone interested in Europe, Amplid has dome B-grade stock at their website for good prices.
