Does anyone else have an issue with the inside of their 3L shells staining over time? I take good care of my outerwear by washing and reapplying DWR at least once or twice a season, but can't seem to get the slight discolouration out of the interior of my Guch/Guide stuff. My well-used Freebird bibs look like a pissed/shit myself, but I don't recall ever doing either. Or am I just gross? Feeling kinda vulnerable posting this but if anyone has a shared experience and managed to clean it up, it'd be the EZ crowd.

Would be nice to unload some older outerwear so I can justify buying new stuff, but I don't wanna sell anything that I can't get stains out of.

Just checked my AK457 jacket that has probably 200 days on it and no, seems like no discoloration.

I haven’t had that issue, is it possible a base layer is leaching/bleeding into it?

That is my bet.

I too have experienced this with some older Bonfire 3L Goretex kit. If it weren't for the fact that these stains were in the jacket, I would have thought they were pee stains. My current Guch 3L does not have any stains so far after 5 seasons.

I’ve got staining on the inside of Volcom and Quiksilver 3L Gore jackets but my 10+ year old AK hover looks like new. My guess is that the c-knit backer on 3L and stretch Gore has a coarser surface and holds dirt but the grid backer on Gore-tex pro is slicker so doesn’t stain so easily.

I am a sweaty bastard and often overdo my layering so am probably a good test case.

I 100% believe that c-knit could be the culprit

I do remember that my Gore-Tex Pro bibs (older freebirds) also had some discoloration from brightly dyed merino first layers, but that went away after one or two washings.

Sounds weird, but you could also try to bleach away the stains by just putting the pants in the sun? UV does a really good job of killing certain discolorings, at least it works with tomatoes and beetroot stains...

This makes a ton of sense. Thanks, homies.
